Wooden pens by
[email protected]
Hi,
does anyone know a CNC that may carve the wooden cap or body of a pen
with images of temples, historic moments, etc. My main interest is to
start the production of luxury fountain pens made with hardwoods.
Maybe this is a simple question but I am a novice on this market
segment. Any help is...

salvaging a favorite tree by
Joseph Handy
Hello folks
I am writing with some questions on salvaging some wood from a portion of an
old box elder in my parents backyard. This tree was one that I used to
climb all the time. It also held the family tire swing. It is now slowly
dying and today it dropped a rather large limb on the...

I posted earlier today the next tiny carving after the chain several years
ago that was compared to the date on a dime . . . wish I had more time to
dedicate to carving. You will find it on the

This one was to get the ribbons twist correctly-ish...

Help looking for basswood in the UK by
[email protected]
Hi,
I have yet to ask my local timber yards, but I was wondering if anyone
could advised me on where I can find a supplier for basswood as I
would love to start giving wood carving a try. I've delved into the
dear ol' google search, which amounted to not much in the way of
basswood. I did find...

Nora Hall classes Opinions please by
TomL
I have the opportunity to take 4 days of classes given by Nora Hall.
I'm wondering what the consensus is about her work and methods. The
little I've read is that she does 'european' carving. How does that
differ from plain ol' carving? I've also read that her work is mostly
architectural carvings...

minor bench idea - colliding blades by
Australopithecus scobis
Greetings,
I was making shavings 'tother day and the gouges on the bench kept
wanting to knock together. I found some scrap pine, about the size of a
ruler, drilled some holes and glued in pegs of 1/8" dowel. I can put a
used gouge down on the bench with the blade between two pegs.

Which Tool? by
BUB 209
I do wood repair for a car restorer and every now and then a tricky
assignment pops up - what it is, some of the old cars from the '30s
have cloth tops over a wood frame. Where the top meets the body
in the back the upholsterer needs a groove to tuck the cloth into, and
I tried using a tiny saw...

Hello all. I am new to this board. I have been carving for about 4-5

of them. I usually use Cottonwood bark but I recently received a
