a couple of weeks off by
Ann Adamson
Hi all,
I haven't been around for a while, and actually have not been quilting
at all! I had some complications with the chemotherapy I'm on, and
ended up in the hospital, and most recently my littlest child has been
sick with some kind of virus, and it's been HOT here, and believe it or
not for...

Welcome Coleen! OT by
Pat in Virginia
Just want to jump the gun and welcome a newbie, Coleen. Welcome
to wonderful and whacky RCTQ Land.
Kate, Wendy, and I 'met' Coleen over in another NG and invited
her to come over here too. With the three of us jumping up and
down and waving at her, did she ever stand a chance? G

Off Topic Turns On Topic & Fabric Shopping by
Lisa Ellis
Hi,
Friday night I walked into to climbing gym and saw that everybody was
wearing skirts. Imagine (if you can) men climbing in dresses and heels,
size 20 prom dresses, sarongs, or mini-skirts, and women climbing in
cute, short little dresses from the 60's! I asked what was up and was
told they...

Tried paper-piecing! by
Johanna Gibson
I finally took the plunge and tried paper-piecing today. I have
some Amish diamond-in-square blocks and I wanted to them to be very
accurate because of the bias edges. I don't have any fancy
pre-printed papers, I just drew out what I wanted on some paper left
over from computer print-outs and...

Critter Comforts Update by
Jill Pochik
I wanted to thank everyone who can sent me their scraps and unwanted
fabrics. Because of you, I was able to provide over 100 small quilts to
homeless dogs, cats and even rabbits at several rescues this weekend.
You all should be proud of yourselves for helping to make so many
rescued animals a...

I am new and have a ? by
MusicCityGirl
I have a question? My sister gave me a handmade quilt she made and gave
to me last Christmas. I have been keeping it in one of those vacuum
sealed bags. I want to put in on my bed, but I would like to stain guard
it before I do.
I read on a web site that taking it to the dry cleaner would be...

back again! by
DDM
Jules, you've just done a very traditional one patch. One of the reasons
that they're old favorites is because they are fun, easy, quick, and good
looking too! Sometimes we need something that we can just "do" without
having to agonize over a lot of details. Hope your shoulder gets better
soon,...

My quilting vacation by
Kathy in CA
I was on vacation last week so missed all the posts as I dont get on
computer as much as home as I do at work! Besides I spent nearly the entire
week sewing :)
I started and finished 2 new quilt tops. These are different than the
previous quilt tops I finished in that they are in colors I chose...

I made another tablerunner - go look by
MerryStahel
Well, someone asked me for a tablerunner like the one I already made, but with
a little more green in it!
I made it and it turned out lovely! However, the photo on the WEBSHOTS page
(URL below) doesn't do it justice! The colors look muddy in the photo, but
trust me - they POP. The green is sage...

woo by
Anne
Larisa,
I did that with an antique quilt top my great-Gram had made but not
finished. I just added a back and some tie strings inside at the corners
to cover a Goose Down duvet. As I recall, I made the back longer than
the front so it could fold inside, envelope style.

OT - first leaf of fall by
Johanna Gibson
Well I saw the first orange leaf of fall today, on the way to the
doctor's. It has been windy lately here, but it was only blowing down
green ones! Still, after roasting in that heat wave earlier, autumn
is almost a blessing (now my eczema will calm down).
I can't wait to see the lovely colors...

The Good and The Bad of Being Without a Computer for Six Days by
Coleen
Well hello friends. I have been without a computer since Friday evening
(either a lightening strike or a power surge) and have been going through
terrible withdrawal. The good thing about this -- I did manage to get lots
of house cleaning, quilting and crocheting done; the bad thing -- I...

OT - Taskbar Help by

solution to this is? I know that he and I have solved this problem before,
but I can't remember what we did. Any help would be appreciated. It could

I'm gonna take the plunge into hand dye by
Debbi
1) I dump the ash water, but don't wring out the fabric before putting it
into the dye
2)Different designs-- I twist the fabric before putting it into the dye. The
tighteer you twist and the more scrunched it is in the jar the more
patterned it will be

Variable sized blocks setting by
Sewwhat
Hello!I have a number of similar themed blocks of various sizes which
I want to set into a quilt somehow and am struggling with how to get
started on this. My one thought was to create scaled down paper models
of the blocks and work with them on paper to arrange into a setting
and go from there,...

any working on a Dear Jane quilt? by
Medium Gnome
I have the Dear Jane book (wonderful bedtime reading) and enough fabrics in
my stash to get me started on some blocks.
I'm sure I don't have enough for the whole thing right now. Would anyone
like to do a small swap of fabrics? How much "background" is needed?
