OT Note from School by NightMist
I will happily make pie and punch for everybody who wants to make a field trip to behold the school staff in their native habitat. Here it is, word for word, comma for comma: "Dear Parents, The Erie Zoo Field Trip scheduled for Friday July 31st as been changed to tommorow, Thursday July 30th due...

How far is TOO far? by Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
First, please check out this link- www.starforestquilts.com Pat on her hill sent the link to me. The quilts are fabulous- just gorgeous, BUT.... how far is too far??? I would be happier with calling these "quilts" if the scenes in the quilts were of fabric and appliqued. I would greatly admire...

quilting-what's it take? by Taria
I have spent some time thinking about Cindy's note mentioning buying a big machine to get all her tops done up. I am having a tough time trying to figure out just what it takes for this hobby to feel right for us. For folks in the old days they had almost nothing. A needle and scraps got them...

backing quilts by Marie Dodge[_3_]
What are you people using to back your quilts? Sheets? What thread count do you all recommend? A flat sheet for a double bed is too narrow for a full size quilt so are you buying Queens size sheets to back full size quilts?

OT- Gas Prices by ALZ
Gas prices have gone up TWICE today. From 8:30 to 1:00, they jumped 20 cents a gallon and I was just out at 4:00 and they are up another 10 cents a gallon! I can't believe someone isn't making oodles on this and using the hurricane as an easy excuse. Linda PATCHogue, NY

OT Halloween Horror Nights Rant by Nurse Ratched
Does anyone else live near a Universal Studios attraction? I do, and they've been running ads for their Halloween Horror Nights event. The ad shows a maniacal-looking guy ("The Director") setting up camera shots of a terrified man in a bathtub full of water, who is then electrocuted (you see...

A Quilt For Me This Year club by Jalynne
I've seen several people who are planning on making a quilt for themselves this year. I'm no exception. I find that I keep making quilts, but they end up in different homes. It's about time that I have one for my own bed. This year, i'm working on TWO. Maybe it's the snow that's making me want...

RCTQ vol 11 directory has gone out! by LN \(remove NOSPAM\)
Sorry it took so long to send out. I went to Houston and it threw my schedule off. If you got an email from me, but didn't get a file attached, please let me know... But check all of your email first, cuz I resent when I realized my mistake. Sometimes 2x! LOL OK. I'm a slow learner. If you missed...

Quilt as a door? by IMacNat
Hi - I've finally gotten moved & unpacked! Now if we could just get use to the heat! Here's my big question... In the new house the master bath doesn't have a door on it. There is a frame and all, but no door. The little room with the potty & shower is really too small to have a door open...

Very Dufficult New Year Resolution by Kate XXXXXX
Keep the sewing room tidy! I have a MAJOR clear-up exercise to do in there... Machines and fabric and threads and bits all over the place, careful footwork needed to negotiate the bosticle course that is the 'floor', and homes to find for new toys. When it's all pretty and you can really see...

Squishie etiquette by C & S
I was wondering if it is poor etiquette to send someone a squishie that came from your own stash. If I'm in a quilt store and a fabric reminds me of someone, I will buy it and send it off unwashed. However, there are times when something from my stash would be perfect for that individual. ...

Handquilting question by Mika
Well I finally got my 30+ year old quilt top on the quilt frame to give handquilting a try. When I was in Vegas last month I found some straw needles at Sandy's fabulous LQS, Quiltique. So now I'm ready to begin quilting. In fact I tried a few stitches last night after we finished tightening the...

OT Uh ..... Hi? by Sarah Curry
Been a LONG time (the better part of a year) since I last stuck my toe in ... and pulled it back out again. And I confess that I'm just as overwhelmed as I was last April (or thereabouts). New computer (July), new version of Netscape, and oh, all these NEW people (not to mention close to 10,000...

Silly question by Cryn
Hello everyone I'm delurking to ask a silly question. The answer must be obvious but I haven't found it anywhere! I'm making a baby quilt this weekend as my second grandchild is due on Tuesday. I've made lots of clothes and love hand embroidery so I thought - how hard can it be? I 've kept it...
