Why Lap Quilts? by
Lynne Van
I'm just curious...why do people make lap quilts...apart from the
obvious that they are faster to make... why do we call them lap quilts
and do people really use them???
Cheers,
lynne in Toronto

Blackest solid Black Fabric Review by
Kathy
Hi all,
I have rec'd my package (yesterday) of fabric that I ordered from Big
Horn Fabrics last week. It is the new Michael Miller Jet Black and is
supposed to be the Blackest of the Blacks solid Black fabric.
Comparing it next to some of my other "wanna-be" black solids I would
say that it is a...

Welcome to RCTQ FAQ by
Diana Curtis
Welcome to RCTQ, a usenet discussion group of
quilters. We want to read all about your quilting activites, and
welcome questions. We may even come up with some helpful answers!
But we do have a few requests, to keep this NG moving along. We
ask that you do not post pictures here, but we love to...

Stack and Wack by
Lili
What the heck is it? Is it a method? A block? I'm lost, I can't find
anything about it in the quilting books from my local library. If someone
could take a moment and explain to me what it is I'd be very appreciative. I
just started quilting about a year ago, I have made four quilts so far and
am...

easiest pumpkin muffins ever by
Monique Reed
Mix one 15 oz can of pumpkin (not pie filling) into one box spice cake
mix. Bake in sprayed muffin cups at 350.
THAT'S IT!!! No measuring, no eggs, no milk, no nothin' else.
I didn't believe it until my DH's cousin made some.
If you have the pumpkin and the mix in your pantry, you can...

For Jill that makes quilts for critters... by
Karlee in Kansas
OK, a few days have passed and Joyce has not emailed me about my offer for
fabric.
After I went through the fabric, I'm thinking that most of this wouldn't be
all that great to make a nursing home quilt out of...some of it would be
more suited to our 4 legged furry friends that Jill makes quilts...

Web Site Finally (mostly) updated by
frood
I spent the morning updating my web pages. The Halloween quilts are posted,
as is the Picnic quilt.
There is also a section called Before and After, that shows my new "look".
Now you can see just how far off Diana was in her description of me. In case
you forgot, she said: "A Goddess. :-)

caught still in my nightgown at 9 am (on topic) by
Susan Laity Price
I have developed a new pattern to my day which was working well until
someone rings the doorbell.
I am out of bed by 6 am and read the newspaper while eating breakfast.
By 7:00 I am ready to start my day but the men folk in my house are
using all the hot water.
Lately I have been coming to the...

FabShopHop recap by
AliceW
Ok, who did the FabShopHop? How many shops did you get to and did you win
and prizes yet?
I got to 135 shops, 2/3 of which I did last night - they are like potato
chips, you just can't stop at one!
I wasn't going to do this one this time, but I got sucked in. Did find a few
new favorites,...

Mall Crawl Prizes by

Do you need to sign up for individual shop newletters/e-mails in order to be
eligible for prize drawings or are you automatically entered when you find
the quilt block and click on it?

Quilting software by
Audrey Eischens
I'm a newbie to this newsgroup and relatively new to quilting even though
I'm in my early 60's. What quilting software do the "old pros" out there
recommend. I really would like to be able to design some of my own
blocks/quilts.

What a Stash Enhancement Opportunity I had! by
Monique Reed
My MIL is in full "fling" mode, contemplating moving into a smaller
house and getting rid of many things she's accumulated over the
years. Yesterday she let me go through her big boxes of linens. I
came home with a huge haul.
There are one or two pieces that might actually have been worked...

Celtic Interlacing by
Paul & Suzie Beckwith
Gosh - I've had fun today...
Took a class at my *local* LQS (local = 75 miles each way...) in
Celtic Interlacing with Val Derks, and had a blast - she had us
drafting our own patterns with several books as reference, also some
of her own designs that she had done, and then we made a sample...

Long-arm quilting by

I am considering a long-arm quilting machine. Has anyone had any
experience with a Prodigy? It seems to have less vibration.
Thanks. Janet
