just another joke by SewStorm
Even little kids can be expected to help out, there are many tasks that can be delegated. I so firmly believe this that I taught my two youngest daughters to do their own laundry while they were still in elementary school. They used to complain that I put their socks and undies in the wrong...

Call for help by BEI Design
Is there a sewist in the Portland, Oregon, U.S.A. area (say 50 mile radius), who already _owns_ an embroidery machine, and who would be willing to do a small contract job for me? Someday I'm going to invest in a machine, but right now is not the time, I can't budget the expense and I _really_...

just another joke by Trish Brown
....my dishwasher is called Matthew and he does a pretty respectable job. Maintenance costs a bit, 'cause he's a man now and has a man's appetite. But he's gets the dishes 'parkling clean for me and will do a second cycle if I ask him nicely! ;- -- Trish {|:-} Newcastle, NSW, Australia

"Entrepeneur's Guide to Sewn Product Manufacturing" by CHRIS O SULLIVAN
Just want to let people know that this book, by Kathleen Fasanella, is available on Amazon. Kathleen is the seller and I believe there are only fifteen or so left. The book has been very difficult to get and I highly reccommend it.

dress for a wedding by bell_hooks
I have a formal wedding to go to but haven't really found anything that's struck my fancy RTW wise, so I'm thinking of making something to wear instead. As much as I like the style of the bottom of the simplicity dress # 5671, the entire dress is a bit too prom for my tastes. So I want to make a...

Bra and Swimwear Sewing by Lisa Merriman
I have an odd question, but I hope someone can answer it. I am an unusual size, so I require custom-made swimwear, and find it extremely difficult to buy a bra. I'm wondering if I should try and make my own swimwear (and bras), instead of paying so much money to have them made for me. But... I've...

Invisible Zipper by Cherry Delaney
Over Christmas I was trying to sew a velvet dress and thought the invisible zipper would look nice. The first attempt, I melted the zipper teeth, the second attempt, my foot sewed too close to the teeth. Do any of you have good experience with either a Bernina or Viking and what foot did you use...

need help with pattern sizing quickly by no spam
Ok, I bought a pattern for a shirt I am working on and it's simplicity 5872. I bought the wrong size, sizes 4-10 and I usually use a 12. But I looked at the garment measures and when it's finished it says a bust for size 12 will be about 40" !!!! I think it's meant to be loose and maybe God wanted...

Long-windedness ensues. Query starts below a row of asterisks like this one: ******* I started cutting out weeks ago, I'm still working on the eighteen pockets for my two-pants suit, and one pair of broadfall pockets hasn't even been cut out yet! My plan is to make a wool shirt, one pair of...
