new machine by
Roberta[_3_]
(Sniff) I'm so proud! DD1 finally bought her first sewing machine. A
used one, since she's on a tight budget. Like everybody here, I
advised her to look for a good old Singer, and she found a 401a with
all the accessories, in a nice cabinet, for only $150!
Of course I would have just given her one...

Eyes are just fine by
Brian[_3_]
The cataract surgery went just fine for anyone that is interested. When
they put me on the gurney, they also put some drops in my eyes that I
suppose they had to give time to work. That waiting was the worst part.
The surgery itself was nothing.
The vision out of my right eye is the best it...

A binding question by
Pat S
Strange as it may seem, I have never done a half-inch binding. Few of
my quilts are large and some are tiny, so I have only ever done a
quarter, and eighth of an inch binding. I don't think I have done a
double-fold binding either (though I might have tried one? just can't
remember). I am...

Solved mystery by
Maureen Wozniak
As some of you know, David's antique quilt won a blue ribbon at our State
Fair this week. We picked up the quilt and ribbon yesterday. (Apparently
Antique Quilts is a category that is extremely competitive year after year).
We photographed it and it was too pretty to just put back in it's...

washing quilts that have not had the fabric prewashed by
Martha[_6_]
Hello!
I've inherited some blocks, with which I am making a quilt.
But I just figured out that the original owner did not prewash her
fabrics, and there are blues, reds and browns in those blocks.
Normally I prewash fabric with Retayne. I think there is a product I
could buy that when added to...

Wish me luck by
Brian[_3_]
Tomorrow I am going to have cataract surgery. According to the stuff I
have read and have been told, cataract surgery is one of the most
successful forms of surgery out there. It should also greatly enhance the
visual acuity in my right eye.
That is if all goes well. I am told there is a...

hunt for fabric by
Nancie[_2_]
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has any green fabric from the Florida collection
by Fabri-Quilt Inc pattern 366. I need about 12inches (30 cms).
I am in Australia.
Thanks,
Pauline

Edible yo-yo's ? by
Polly Esther[_5_]
Well, maybe not 'edible' but gotta be chewable. My hope is always that the
crib quilts I make will survive: Daddy helps with the laundry and baby uses
her quilt for a Batman cape.
The quilt underway is Buggy Days from Fons & Porter's Baby Quilts
Winter 2008. All it is is baby buggies...

exteme paper piecing by

Yes, that is a quarter. I needed four of these for the corners of the
inner border. Thankfully the rest of the blocks are slightly larger.

OT Another prayer request please by
Lizzy Taylor
This is not a good summer vacation. DFIL finally succumbed to his
terminal lung condition last month, just 2 days before his 73rd birthday
and 1 month before he and DMIL would have celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary.
Shortly after Father's Day my DF was admitted to hospital with...

Little quilts by
Sunny[_2_]
I'm once again working very quickly to finish two little kid quilts. A young boy down the street has cancer. I don't know the family, but they're friends of friends as well as neighbors and I just felt I needed to make him a quilt. I have a superhero quilt done for him -- Superman and Batman...

Ruby... by
Kate XXXXXX
My Great Neice Ruby Alexandrina arrived on August 27. I have a home
made baby bag with a pile of stuff in for her, but am making her a quilt
too. Just charm squares, but I'll quilt a motif in each square. Need
to go choose something for a border and some binding...

SOS: Fabric search by
Sartorresartus
I need to locate some fabric (that will teach me to read right to the
BOTTOM of instructions!). It's called Morris Seasons, by Fabric
Freedom and looks like this: http://s237.photobucket.com/albums/ff191/sartorresartus/Fabric/
Ideally, I need about 4yds, but could probably make do with about...

prayer request please by
off kilter [email protected]
I know I haven't been that active, but I have a serious prayer request
to put out.
As some of you know, my son has been taking karate since we moved
here, and my daughter started in October. The family that teaches
them has 3 children of their own.
On 8/12, the received the news that their...

Ethiopian fabrics by
Susan Laity Price
A friend of my son is adopting children from Ethiopian. I would like
to make them quilts using both Ethiopian and American fabrics to
symbolize the two cultures. There are many sites available that sell
African fabrics but none of them specify that any of the fabrics are
from Ethiopia. I would...

Back as 'barnyowl'! by

I finally gave up on the quick route (for me) to access rctq and am back as
'barnyowl' formerly jennellh or Jennifer in Ottawa.
I apologize for the error that I made when I posted news of Polly's latest
baby quilt .... working blind on message posting didn't allow for editing so
thank you,...

So great to find you all again. Not that you would miss a lurker, but
you were missed. Have to let you know that work is progressing on an
I Spy Quilt from the 1999 swap. OK, it did not get done for that
grandchild (now 11)----but, wonder of wonders, there is a new one.

Just marking our place by
Polly Esther[_5_]
This is Thursday, August 11, 2011. ( In case you thought rctq was gone.) I
just went to the fat quarter shop and clicked 'view all'. It takes about an
hour to look at all of their collections but it is a Happy Hour. Not
affiliated and didn't buy anything, just thought if you're 'on break'...
