Copper Barium/Zinc Purple Glaze by
mike
In the book "The Ceramic Spectrum" by Robin Hopper, he states that
copper can produce a purple and plum color in both oxidation and
reduction, cone 6 thru 10 in high alkaline or barium/zinc glazes. I
was wondering if anyone out there is familiar with this coloring from
copper. Anyone have a...

an area with various elevated boxes might work. or straw or sand or
dried leaves...

Blistering on Stoneware by
Davis Salks
I have been struggling with this problem for about a year now. Can
anyone please help with any suggestions or comments? I am getting a
variety of blister sizes. The areas affected seem to be verticle
surfaces, the underside of plate rims, edges of plates, but
interestingly, not the rims of taller...

I need a gallery in Oregon by
[email protected]
Hello everyone,
I've been a potter for 7 or 8 years now and have decided to get more
serious. I live in Eugene Oregon and have evolved into a face jug
artisan. I need to start getting my stuff "out there" in my region
and was wondering if someone had an idea of a gallery in Oregon
(preferably...

Ceramic slip mixture by
Tass
I own my own ceramic shop and I recently was given more info on mixes of
ceramic slip. I was told that adding barium to the mix makes it whiter.
BUT I also know that barium is poisonous. Does this make it dangerous in
the dry form when cleaning or firing? Any replies would be helpful.
Thanks.

Plaster problems by
Dominic Spencer
Hello again people!
I've been experimenting with plaster casting, making casts of baby feet in
soft clay then taking a plaster cast of the impression, creating a 3D
plaster wall hanging. I am using red clay because I want to utilise the
colour deposit on the plaster surface to enhance the...

Ceramic photographic transfers by
Dominic Spencer
Hi there - I wonder if anyone (in the UK) knows where I can go to get
ceramic transfers (black & white and colour) made from either digital or old
fashioned photos. I want them to be firable on-glaze transfers, not the
ones you don't need to fire, as I want them to be durable/washable...

Dominic Spencer
I want to throw a few ovenproof pieces for personal use and perhaps for

Any help appreciated.

Nights by
Bubbles
I am now going down to spend a little time in my workshop before bed.
Spoiled as I am, I have a stereo system and a teeny tiny (6") TV down there.
I sit and fiddle with my clay and watch dvd's and my soul rests and
breathes.
Quietness is wonderful.

Radioactive glazes by
dkat
I went to visit my son this weekend at college and he took me on a tour of
the nuclear research facility that he used to work at (yes they have
students running a nuclear reactor - not to worry - it's small and I think I
would trust Reed students more than most people out there doing the job).
One...

How to build a damp room by

Can I use Drylock to waterproof a damp room?
I would like to build a damp room inside an existing structure. I need
a way to waterproof the walls to prevent damage to sheetrock and
humidity in surrounding rooms. I am considering using FRP panels
(http://www.glasteel.com/glasliner/01.htm) but it...

yahoo's 360 feature by
steve [email protected]
a while back someone mentioned the FLICR feature of yahoo for posting
pictures. i went to yahoo & saw their "360" feature which is a pretty
easy website scheme that enables posting of many photo sets.
it'd be neat if everyone here was to post their work. obviously we can
finally see each others...
