elusive fabric! (long) by
Debbi
Pat,
I will have to take you shopping with me sometime. I bought some really
pretty Benartex fabric last year and started to use it this year on an Irish
Chain quilt. It was looking so good that I decided to make the quilt bigger
so that it would fit on my queen size bed, but alas, I can't find...

Sewing for my new apt. and more by
[email protected]
I have not done much sewing lately except for my apt. I made new Valances for the kitchen and dinning room and my other valances for the 2 bedrooms and living room was able to use the old ones and didn't even have to alter them. I also made place mats and napkins to match. I don't like curtains...

Electric Quilt 6? Worth it?? by
Connie[_2_]
I feel like a total dunce asking this - but does anyone here have EQ6 -
and if so, do they like it? Is it easy to learn/use? Do the "advanced
pattern design" features work as well as the web site says they do?
Also, I've heard that EQ is raster based (using pixels) while Illy (my
drawing app of...

To wash or not to wash by
Nada
Help! I'm a little confused. I've heard people say they pre wash their
fabrics and others say they don't bother. I know it's probably best to
because of shrinkage and dye running, but do you really have to wash
everything i.e. scraps, squares, etc. or is it just large pieces?
Thanks in...

Please save me some hours by
Polly Esther[_5_]
I need to recommend to a friend which lovely white cotton is the very best
for printing photographs. It's not something I've done in a long while and
I only remember that it was Kona or Kona Bay. It was a smooth, finely woven
perfect surface. Anyone remember? I'm sure I've written it down...

How many projects are you working on - now? by
Bonnie NJ
I've wondered if I have a problem. When I stop to think of all the
quilting projects I am currently working on - some more than others.
I'm working on "Over the River and Through the Woods", a batik quilt,
my everlastingly large handquilting project, a machine quilting
project, a quilt for my...

fabric amounts for quilts by
Taria
So I come across a neat quilt in Fons and Porter's magazine (sept./oct.
2008) It is called Mariner's in a Pickle.
It could work for what I want to do. Under the materials list is 2-3/4 yds
of 17 prints. 2 yds. for binding and
14 yards for backing. That comes to a whopping 62-3/4 yards. My...

Martelli rotary cutter by
Kathyl Jogerst
Hi all. I bought the Martelli rotary cutter while at the Houston Quilt
show. It's supposed to be ergonomically correct and be much easier to cut
with a ruler. I'm having NO luck with it. It seems to be flimsy in the
holder and I can't stay on a line against the ruler. I end up with...

OT -- need time wasters... by
Kate G.[_3_]
I'm finding myself more and more laid up... and it is too hard to sew...
cuz I can't hold my neck or my head the way I need to... to do it! GRRR
But I can kill time in my recliner... head supported... laptop in my lap.
So what online games do you recommend that will help me kill time?

Halloween swap by
frood
Yes, it's that time of year again, when a quilter's thoughts turn to the
greatest of all holidays, Halloween! Ok, it may not be the greatest holiday
to everyone, but it is to me! G Therefore, it's time to start thinking
about my annual Halloween swap, which is still nameless at this point....

Altoid Tin Covers by

all the postcards folks were doing! I guess I don't eat enough altoids --
because I'm not sure how big those tins are... or what they will hold...
but the are...

research for a new sewing machine by
Michelle C[_3_]
Eventually, I hope to buy a machine that is more suited to machine
quilting than my Kenmore (although I've got no complaints with it as a good
standard sewing machine). And no, I won't be buying a long-arm--can't
afford it. That said, I'd be very interested to hear what features you
think are...

My husband says my stash is out of control! I've managed to pull
together four collections of cotton fabric suitable for quilting and
consigned them to sale on Ebay. My bereavement is your gain! g
There are a few fat quarters in here, but mostly these are one and two
yard cuts.

Just wanting people's thoughts on this. You can e-mail me privately if
you wish. I'm not looking for a flame war, just some honest real life
thoughts. The first website is a site you can look up the shots a lot of
us received as children. The actually little piece of paper that comes
with the shot...

I really tried to love her. by
John
I will say it again. I really tried to love her. That Bernina Aurora
430 with all the bells and whistles. Let me back up a bit. I have sewn
all my life on mechanical machines. I never wanted to get a
computerized machine, but fell victim to the vagaries of sewing
machine lust, and happenstance....

I have a problem. by
AliceW
Terri, welcome to the group - you are not alone! The only tip I can give
you is not to even joke about your job taking time away from your quilting -
I did this once and got laid off from my job! No job = no shopping for
fabric! From your other descriptions, it sounds like you have...
