This is a first by The Other Kim
I somehow managed to break a bamboo needle. Not a little 2-mm sock needle, of which I've broken many in bamboo and wood (I keep extra sets to replace the broken ones as I go along), but a 3.75-mm. I was making a dishcloth when I felt it give way about 2" from the tip. Guess I don't know my...

Thirty-four hours and counting... by Wooly
Until this thing comes off my arm on Monday. Then I can catch up on two weeks of SCRATCHING!!! And maybe knit a little if I'm lucky. +++++++++++++ Reply to the list as I do not publish an email address to USENET. This practice has cut my spam by more than 95%. Of course, I did have to abandon a...

Thinking Caps!! by Slick Hippy chick
Thanks to all of you who helped with the math problem...Now, I forgot to tell you what I'm making....it's a vest, it was originally from Whiteliesdesign.com ---but the lacy pattern was to loopy and sloppy for my liking. I changed the gauge and went to smaller needles..from 10 1/2 to 8! ..that's...

Thinking Caps On Please by Slick Hippy chick
OK, who is the math wiz out there????......here is the question. If I have 324 stitches on my needles and I need to decrease 50, what math formula do I use to figure this! Thankfully, I have the knitting math program, it figures it for me.....but for the life of me I can't come up with...

thinking caps & math equations by Linda D.
Hi everyone, Now the problem of decreasing has been solved, who can tell me how we figure out increases??? I have 35 stitches on my needle for the ribbing on a sleeve. I have to increase to 49 stitches and place them evenly around, so that means add 14 stitches. What is the easiest way to figure...

Thinking about using horse tail hair to make a belt. Have you done this before? by Bricore
I brushed out all my horses hairs and I saved it. I am thinking about making my daughter a little belt out of it. Adding some beeds and all. Has anyone here ever done this on here before? I was just wondering. Love to have any tips that might help make it easier to do. Well I gotta go. Thanks,

Things we do in public by Wooly
Threads back through Aaron to a comment Mirjam made which is: Almost like Breast feeding in public, Used to be done only by "Primitive women" than became Done by all who felt like doing it. Nobody now in Westen world would say a woman breast feeding is Primitive ..... My response is: You'd be...

Things I've learned... by Slinky
General lessons: Check your gauge often and at many locations on the work. When I was doing the pattern overhaul I failed to account for the fact that a stranded fabric made with sport-weight yarn would be thicker than if I used worsted-weight and made an unstranded fabric. Fortunately my gauge...

They knit WHAT????? by Shillelagh
Saw this in a yarn store ad, and wished the blog "You Knit What?" was still in existence. I love the look of most Noro yarns, but this sweater design is unbelievably ugly..... no wonder there are derogatory remarks made about "your aunt's knitting"... enjoy...

Theoretical question- necklines etc. by [email protected]
I'm just musing here, but was curious what everyone's "take" on this might be. Firstly...I don't "do" circular needles because I have to brace my arm to knit due to a back injury, ergo, I "have" to use long straight needles, and I don't mind seaming a bit (I enjoy looking at and stroking the peice...
