batting right and wrong side? by Roberta[_3_]
A quilting friend who mostly hand quilts told me today that experts (she thinks it was Fons and Porter) say batting has a smoother and a rougher side, and they recommend putting the smoother side up because it is easier to needle that way. Has anybody tried this? Or even heard of it? Roberta in D,...

Best online store for batting by Michelle C.
I usually buy my batting at Walmart (don't roll your eyes, I don't have much choice in our small town ;-). However, the batting available there now is totally unacceptable. So I need to buy online. What are your recommendations? TIA! Michelle in Nevada, USA

Question about sergers and quilting by dealer83
Is there any use for a serger when you are a quilter? I've been looking at them for the last couple of years and never have bought one. Is there any process in making a quilt that you use a serger for? Could you piece blocks together or would the seams be too bulky? I'm just curious if you use...

baby clothes as a quilt by Martha[_5_]
Tomorrow a person is coming over with baby-toddler clothes of her daughter, and she wants me to make a quilt of them. Is there anything I should do specially, or watch out for? Also, the advice that this group gave me about square-in-a-square was MOST useful! I've made a couple of quilts with...

Book question by Trixie
Does anyone have the book "Quick Star Quilts and Beyond" by Jan Krentz? From what little I could glean, it appears you need special rulers or templates (I.e. diamond shaped) to do the quilts. Is this true? The cover quilt is just gorgeous, but I don't want to purchase more templates/rulers if I...

Just an update on the pending 'tater. Now at the end of 37 weeks and no sign of baby Willow yet. The good news is the doctor says she has grown and will be a little over 5 pounds and most likely will not need to be in the NICU. My DD is feeling fine but can't find enough stuff to dust! Can...
