Men's dress shirt pattern recommendation? by BYDMORAN
I have just decided to make my husband some dress shirts instead of buying yet more that just don't last. I am wondering if anyone can recommend a pattern which they have used and found it goes together nicely. I would like to make several of different prints of fabric. I need a placket front,...

I have a beautiful GreenWing Macaw who shed his feathers in good condition. I have so many that I would like to use them in a sewing project. Does anyone have any information on how to use feathers in sewing? I think they would have to be removable for cleaning the garment as they would...

Manual needed: Necchi 534FB/White M603 by [email protected]
Would anyone have a copy of the manual or be willing to make one for me for a Necchi 534FB and also for a White M603 sewing machine? My wife picked one up for herself and for my mom at a garage sale and neither had the books with them. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Mike

Where to advertise by [email protected]
Hello.. I am the webmaster for http://www.linenplace.com ... I'm not big into the linen industry, and my boss has delegated to me the rather perplexing task of getting our site out in the open. Does anyone know where or how I can go about advertising WITHOUT spamming? Who might be interested in...

Directions to finish 60 year old rug by candc0107
I have a partial rug that was being made about 60 years ago by my great aunt. She died before finishing it. She used the handle of a toothbrush to “sew” the strips of fabric together. (She treaded the fabric strips through the hole of the toothbrush). The rug appears to be oval in shape. My Mama...

Mending Bed Linen by Candide
Want to tackle the huge stack of linens in my mending basket, but think "50" cotton is to strong for fine percale and linen. Is fine cotton darning thread (80) still made? Or, should I try Mettler instead? Any ideas for patches? Am thinking fine cotton muslin or hitting the thrifts for a second...

How To Make A Quilt "Beard Guard"? by Candide
Have an older quilt that has seen a pretty rough life and want to stabilised/hide one very frayed/chewed up edge. Rather than make new pieces, etc would like to sew a "beard guard" along the length of the edge to cover the damage, but cannot find information or a pattern. As a relative newbie (have...

Pillowcases - How To Alter Size? by Candide
Greetings gang! Novice getting back into sewing after not having touched a machine in years. Must have been those home economic classes back at school with all those aprons and pull on skirts which turned me off! *LOL* Any who, have just landed an older Pfaff 1222 and am chomping at the bit for...

Help please.... My Singer 27K (old) has indigestion by canna
I have a copy of the old Singer 27k manual, but even so cannot improve the mess I'm in. The machine sews with a long line of thread on the top surface of the material, with intermittant loops over the thread. The fun starts underneath the material, where there is a tangled forest of sewing...

New pattern cutting by canuck
I have a pattern for kids pj's, from size 7-14. The kids are a size 7 now, but in the future I will want to make them the larger sizes. I don't want to waste the pattern by cutting it out for only the smaller size. What is the best way to go about this? Cheers

Lace question by Carey1003
Hi, Is there a formula for converting the amount of pregathered lace to flat lace. I have flat lace and will gather it by hand but I'm not sure how much I will need to have it look right - i.e. if the pattern says 2 yd pregathered what would be the equivilant of flat? Thanks, Carey
