Yarn for socks by
[email protected]
I was wondering- has anybody here used Alpaca yarn to make socks
with? I've used a lot of wool, and was wondering if Alpaca had
similar qualities, such as being water-repellent and holding in body
heat. Would Alpaca wear as well as wool? Has anyone tried it?
Thanks!

Is there a chart anywhere online that gives you examples of which yarns meet a
particular gauge? That would be a treat.

Yarn Harlot by

Surprise! Stephanie for Yarn Harlot fame, included Arizona on her

ever been to Fiber...

Yarn notes by
Shillelagh
A Wal-Mart flyer arrived in the newspaper yesterday. They had a whole page
of Bernat yarns with some good prices.
Here's an interesting one - I'll have to check out their Lana - it's pure
wool and says it's good for felting - at $5.97 for 100 gm.
They also have a new ladder yarn (similar to Eros...

Full disclosu I don't know the man, never met him, likely never

If you're in the market for a sweater-sized quantity of absolutely
unbelievable yarn find "alpacabuyer" on Ebay. He's offering 100% BFL
yarn in Aran and DK, and he occasionally offers a hank fo sock yarn as
well.

Merino Worsted Weight, and Classic Elite Believe (77% Cotton, 23%

The 1st question: What is the purpose of "felted" wool? I've...

Yarn question by
Janise Ross
Is there an easy way to figure out what weight yarn you get if you double or
triple (or more) it? For example, I have some acrylic stash from many years
ago. They call the yarn "sportweight" with a gauge of 6 sts & 7 rows = 1
inch on size 5 US needles. If I double (or even triple) this yarn,...
