The weather is frightful - thankfully! by Padishar Creel
When it is cold and rainy outside I really rev up my knitting/crochet activity.. I have 4 projects, presently, going on at the same time! However, they are all knitting and I am hankering (slang for wanting) a challenging crochet project. I am looking for something unusual to crochet. Not that I...

The world's ugliest sock is on my blog by Threnody
You guys have got to see this thing. I used the "In your shoes" sock pattern featured at crochetme.com some months back. The use of that pattern, which is OK, with the absolutely ghastly color striping in the yarn I had to play with ended up looking like something a kid pukes up after one too...

the Yarn form H.... by Gwendoline Kelly
Hello everyone I was given 10 x 25 gr balls of Panda Mayfair acrylic/mohair mix - it looked so soft and lovely but when I knitted it, it is hard and scratchy and instead of the nice lacy look I thought I would get it the thing is bulky and awful. Needless to say I have only done about four inches...

The Yarn Harlot by Shillelagh
How many of you are familiar with her blog?? She's a Canadian who has written a wonderful little book called "At Knit's End", and has been on a book tour this summer. She came to Winnipeg last night and I drove in to hear her at a huge bookstore. She was hilarious! Many of us were laughing so...

Theoretical question- necklines etc. by [email protected]
I'm just musing here, but was curious what everyone's "take" on this might be. Firstly...I don't "do" circular needles because I have to brace my arm to knit due to a back injury, ergo, I "have" to use long straight needles, and I don't mind seaming a bit (I enjoy looking at and stroking the peice...

Have you seen this one from the BBC? http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/technology/8148730.stm Myself, I think it is more weaving than knitting, but, I wasn't there to see it. Olwyn Mary in New Orleans

They knit WHAT????? by Shillelagh
Saw this in a yarn store ad, and wished the blog "You Knit What?" was still in existence. I love the look of most Noro yarns, but this sweater design is unbelievably ugly..... no wonder there are derogatory remarks made about "your aunt's knitting"... enjoy...

Things I've learned... by Slinky
General lessons: Check your gauge often and at many locations on the work. When I was doing the pattern overhaul I failed to account for the fact that a stranded fabric made with sport-weight yarn would be thicker than if I used worsted-weight and made an unstranded fabric. Fortunately my gauge...

I brushed out all my horses hairs and I saved it. I am thinking about making my daughter a little belt out of it. Adding some beeds and all. Has anyone here ever done this on here before? I was just wondering. Love to have any tips that might help make it easier to do. Well I gotta go. Thanks,
