Cleckheaton Yarn updatG by
DAB
Every year our Knitting Guild has a retreat and part of the fun is local
yarn shops bring their stuff to sell so instead of driving all over the
place they are in one easy to get to location....about 5 miles from meG
one lady that runs a shop out of her garage had several skeins of...

Baby Raglan Sweater Question by
hesira
I am making a raglan cardigan sized 3 months old from a vintage
pattern. I translated the pattern from fingering weight yarn to light
sportweight yarn to use up some stash, and am using a striped
pattern. In order for the stripes on the sleeves to match the stripes
on the body, I need to either...

I am NOT going to Michaels craft store anymore.... by
Not Likely
While Matthew was in one of his cabinetmaking classes last night, I swung
around to Michaels to look for *one* pattern book (the "Love Me Tender Baby
Afghans" that I saw on line and thought was so sweet). I ended up coming
out with.... FOUR pattern books! Bad Gemini... bad, bad bad!!! ...

I finally get it! by
Laura J
I tried my first lace project several months after I began knitting a couple
of years ago. I didn't enjoy it. Maybe it was the yarn (50/50
acrylic/mohair), maybe the pattern, maybe because I didn't really know what
I was doing (are those ssk stitches slipped purl- or knit-wise?). It made
me...

How to kill a gansy by

Dye it!
Who would have thunk, that dying a garment could be that much harder than
dying skeins of yarn?

Hello everyone,

some new stuff. I put how I make a ponytail holder/scrunchie mini
video on my blog and some other things like that.

v-e-r-y OFF topic, a query about Catholic statues by
YarnWright
Some of my family is Catholic and they've got an ongoing argument query about
placing a statue of Joseph in your yard when trying to sell your home. SOME
say you bury him upside down, some say you bury him facing away from the home,
and some say you do both.
Anybody know?
I personally don't...

Sunday morning by
Erin
and for once it is actually still morning as I type this! 10:24 am to
be precise and I am half-way through my first cup of tea for the day.
Today it is green tea with lemon that I received as a Yule present
from a not-so-little-anymore guy. I delivered most of my advertising
circulars yesterday...

Help with an On-Line Source for needles by
CATS
I don't post here often, but I do read all the wonderful
help and advice offered. So I hope you won't mind me asking
for some help.
I have several sets of Addi Turbo circular needles for sock
knitting, but the shop I bought from does not carry their
straight needles and I cannot find an...

Heresy! Damned Heresy! On washing woolens by
No Name
A stack of mittens were on the drying rack for my ski buddies, so time to
get on with the next gansey.
It is a stitch pattern that I have messed up before, so there was a practice
swatch. The yarn I used for practice is an oiled Canadian yarn that has been
spun just the same way since the days of...

Passing it on by
The Other Kim
Yesterday I took my youngest with me to one of my not-so-local yarn
shops. They were having a Tax Day sale, with lots of yarn on sale for
at least 35% off, and I had to see what they had to offer On the table
outside was some Rowan Biggy Print in a pink and white that Sarah just
kept...

crochet hooks for newbies by
Erin
As I've mentioned earlier, I will definitely be holding a Subversiv
syslöjd (subversive handcrafts) workshop at the rock festival this
summer. Since most of the festival visitors will be from either Sweden
or nearby countries, they will almost certainly have learned the
basics of crochet, etc. in...

Ripping out--again! by
myswendy
Sigh. Yes, it has happened again. This makes 4 (or is it 5?) times I
am ripping out this &(*$#@&%$*& purple chenille! UGH. I was making a
beret that I thought would be gorgeous with the scarf, but it ended up
big enough to swallow if I opened my mouth. So---I like the basic
idea, the banded edge...
