USA Politics. by
Joyce
I would like to know the difference between Democrats and Republicans.
After all, USA is a democratic republic, isn't it?
I also don't get a vote, but I wouldn't want an African-American just
because he's black, or a woman just because she's a woman. Each should
stand entirely on his/her own...

Another Use for XS charts by
Karen C - California
Carol Duvall had a creative use for simple charts: wall painting! Using a 1/2"
square of sponge glued to a piece of 1/2" wooden stake, dab paint onto the
wall, counting dabs instead of stitches.

Myreschka embroidery by
Yvette
I did the first part of a two day course today at my local guild on
Myreschka embroidery. Always wanting to know the traditions behind
these sorts of things, I asked the teacher if it was traditionally
worked in white on white or in colour. She didn't know the answer.
Does anyone here know...

Some Enabling and Stithcin' Hello (long) by
ellice
Hi all,
So, thought I'd say some hellos, and some stitchin' conversation.
First, the boss brought back form Nashville a lot of these - I find them,
well, er, interesting. Haven't seen many comments - so thought I'd share
the link and see the feedback. The Mermaid's Folly - I immediately...

Hoops/ scroll frames and more by
D.M.Evans
Now, I am sure this is has explored here before. I can't decide if I am
a hoop person( that is what I learnt with) I like the nice taut surface, but
I undestand it crushes the threads( I never left my work in it). I have
done large stuff on scroll frames, but they are harder to transport and...

OTT light vs. Balanced Spectrum Lamp by
Margaret
Hi folks,
I'm thrilled to finally be in a position to purchase a new lamp for my
stitching nest and am having a difficult time deciding which of the different
"natural daylight" lamps to buy. I just completed a google search and re-read
a number of posts about the OTT light vs. the Dazor vs. GE...

Bad kitty! by
Jinx the Minx
So I come home tonight, and my kitty left me a nice little "present"
right on top of three brand new, purchased Sunday afternoon, skeins of
DMC and one remaining partial (of which the dye lot has since changed--
it's old school) I left laying on my couch last night. My question
is, do I wash them...

Thimbles by
KTinMich
I'm currently working on Scarlet Quince's large version of Van Gogh's
"Starry Night". It is huge and will take me about 2 years to get it done.
I have finished less than 1/3 of it and am getting a pretty sore "needle
push finger", the middle finger, that is. Gotta get a thimble. Tried a...

CATS Festival Schedule has arrived!!!! by
Tia Mary-remove nekoluvr to reply
Hi Guys,
I got my book of classes today -- loads of neat stuff again. Just a few
complaints -- no color pictures in the book but that's not surprising -- they
ARE $$$ to print. The Banquet is now $75 -- of course, the sampler that is
offered after you eat is from Lorri birmingham, Liz Turner...

Stitching tools? by
Joan E.
Hi all,
In cleaning out some of dear-departed MIL's stuff, we ran across some
tools, which we thought might be stitching tools. I've posted 4 new
pics on my webshots album http://home-and-garden.webshots.com/album/358698631yQeGBs?start=48
It's the 2nd to the last picture.
They are on an 8 1/2x11...

? for experienced beaders by
Joan E.
Hi all,
You may or may not remember back when I worked on the Indian chief for
my sister. Well, she's here and has it with her and she's gotten a lot
done since I fixed it for her.
I had a brilliant thought today: redo the headband with beads. I
proposed this to her and there was a long silence...

Short Long Stitch & scanning trouble by
bungadora
Well after much putzing around, my first short-long stitch piece is
up. The stitching is less than ideal, but I thought I'd put it up.
Even though I'm not happy with this piece, now I want to do more! I
think the next one will be with DMC and linen though. A bit easier to
manage for old Stumble...

Rescue me, I need linen help! by

I've only recently delved into stitching on evenweave, and as such have
never worked with linen. What do I need to know to work with it? How
do I bind the edges? Do I have to handle it differently than an equally

Any linen tips...

Great Big Happy Dance by
Heather in NY
I finished stitching on MLI's Queen Anne's Lace in February after a 5+
year hiatus for wedding/birth announcements. I sent her home with my
best friend in August to my framer's in Canada, and she was picked up
last night. I am astounded at the phenomenal job they did, and my only
complaint is...

Stamped Cross Stitch question by
Debbie B
My Sister in Law is stitching a stamped cross stitch top blanket. She
bought a down blanket to attach it to. My question is.... What would be the
best way to attach it so the stitching doesn't get ruined when washing it?
