Viking Freesia 425 by
Maria Drago
Just wanted to send a note of thanks to everyone who responded last
week to my inquiries about Huskystar, Elna and Bernina machines for
someone new to sewing. I really apprecaited your comments.
I went to the local sewing machine dealer, pretty much set on getting
a Huskystar 224, but came home...

Crazy Quilting by
Margie O'Hara

needlework that was popular in the Victorian era and has been gaining
in popularity since a resurgence of the craft in the 70's. Crazy
Quilting consists of irregularly shaped patches of fabric which are
sewn to a backing fabric. The...

THE NEW YORK TIMES NEEDS YOUR HELP! by
Marc Weingarten
Hi everyone,
I'm a writer for the New York Times who is currently researching a
story about high-tech sewing machines like Pfaff, and I was wondering
if there were any Pfaff users out there - or users of any of other
high-end machines - that would be willing to talk to me about their
experience...

Hazaa! Just popping in to let you all know I recently redecorated my
living room in a medieval motif and I created two web pages full of
photos, templates, instructions and examples for medieval décor. Not
selling anything there, just sharing what I know with anyone that
might want to do a...

Help! Tension suddenly stopped working! by
malia
I don't know what happened. I've had this sewing machine for less than
a year, but I haven't used it much. I've been using it lately now and
then, and it's been working fine. And tonight... I finished cutting
the fabric to make the most ruffly bedskirt ever... and... *sob* all
of a sudden... The...

What's the server equivalent to a Singer 301/401? by
Malcolm Spann
Is there a serger that is the equivalent to what the Singer 301/401's
are to sewing machines? A solid, versatile, all metal, gear driven,
unbreakable machine that will work on both light and heavy fabrics,
and that I'll be handing down to my kids/grandkids?
Is there a FAQ for choosing a serger,...

Looking for info on Singer's made in the 50's & 60's by
Malcolm Spann
There seems to be a lot written about the earlier Singer machines (ie:
the Featherweights, etc), but I have not been able to find much on
those fabulous, all-metal, gear driven machines Singer made in the
50's & 60's. I've often heard that machines such as the 301 and 401
were some of the best...

Source for parts for a Singer 431 by
Malcolm Spann
Greetings,
I took both of my new (to me) Singer 401 and 431's to the shop to
ensure they were in good shape before using them. The good news is:
the 401 is back, and there was nothing wrong (besides a little
cleaning and oiling). My daughter will be spending this week with me,
and we can start...

As a new member of this group, I'm looking forward to the threads

Pattern for a Shopping Bag please ? by
Maisie
Newbie here - looking to be more environmentally friendly this year and sew
my own shopping bags instead of using the plastic bags provided by the
supermarkets.
Does anyone have example patterns that I could use ?

Going thru my favorites, and clearing any old or broken links, come across
this page I had. Don't know if any one else has seen this, but figured, it
couldn't hurt to post it.
There is also a page on Tension Adjusting.

update on cousin by
Maine-iac Rose
Got an email from my cousin's husband. The breathing tube is out, and she
can talk, weak as she is, but everything looks good for her, so it is just a
matter of time for her rehabilitation.
I want to thank each and every one of you here, for the prayers, The Lord
was listening.

How to shop Silk Ties by
Madhur
Few clothing accessories denote style and luxury as silk ties can.
Silk Ties add a special sheen to a mans suit offering both visual
interest and personal expression. Other Materials may be used in the
manufacturing of ties but silk has a built in cache of expense and
glamour. Silk ties benefit...
