"ned ware"?? by
pbhj
I was chatting to someone about a beautiful red-glazed piece which had
veins of a purple glaze sprayed on ... I swear they said it was "ned
ware". I didn't have my wits about me at the time and so didn't ask
"what's that??".
Any clues, did I miss-hear?
Thanks,
pbhj

vender for a gas burner by
Lathe Dog
Where can I buy an atmospherically-entrained gas burner with about
10,000 Btu/hr max output when using propane? If a burner puts out,
say, 10,000 Btu/hr with natural gas, how much will it put out with
propane, at the same supply pressure? Thanks in advance.

refurbishing my kiln by
Mark Tigges
Greetings. My first post to the group.
I have to questions, pertaining to my old kiln.
The kiln is about 20 years old, an old olympic, 2.5" firebrick.
I purchased it used.
1. I didn't know enough at the time I purchased it to ask what had
been fired in it. I'm now getting VERY scared that the...

Firing logs - what do you include? any files for standards? by
Bubbles
Following on the thread about soaking, I was thinking that each kiln is an
individual, and thus, logging what your own kiln does is essential. BUT!
What information do YOU log? Do you have a kiln log - is it on computer
file, so you can share it with us that are inquisitive and searching?
I have a...

mushrooms in USA. I dont know that much about this stuff, only that my
sister has worked a kiln for years, and none of her local suppliers have
anything but silly junk relating to gnomes. a few inchs to a few feet would

My first home-firing! by
Bubbles
Hi everyone!
I got a little top-loading kiln for my birthday (spoiled, I am!) and did my
first firing to 1050 degrees C this weekend. It was a mixed bisque and glaze
firing and went very well.
I have a couple of questions, though:
One of my pots was making little "crackling" sounds hours after...

Clayart and other good sources by
DKat
Since the thread has changed significantly I decided to change subject
header as well.
As I said, Clayart is a great resource even if you don't join. But you must
join to request answers unfound in the archives.
I happen to prefer this site for searching the archives

Air Bubbles by
Lindsay MacArthur
Can air bubbles develop after firing? I have a couple pieces that I
would swear didn't have air bubbles when I pulled them out of the
glost firing but now have air bubbles. Will the air bubbles affect
the strength of the piece?

About 15 months ago I had to put away my pottery tools and wheel and as the
new year arrives the time has come to start again and I'm finding that my
wheel is not as smoothe as it use to be. I have a four year old Brent C. It
has been in my unheated/ unairconditioned garage most of that time. I...
