Repairing bisque prior to glazing? by
Susan Lawton
I think someone posted an answer to this a while back, but I am unable to
find the post...
I work with poured ceramics, and I have a purely decorative piece which
broke cleanly in two during firing. I want to complete the piece by glazing
it, and I cannot remember the 'recipe' for the repair...

Glaze firing by
Wendy Cyrenne
I am a beginner at glazing and firing. I am using an old Cress kiln for
glaze firing and have a few questions that have come up. Hopefully someone
can help me.
When firing to Cone 6, once the temperature is reached how long does it take
the cone to fall over?
In a small Cress kiln (11" x 11" x...

Making kiln shelves... by
Southwest Frameworks
Hello all,
I'm new to this group and fairly new to ceramics. I have an electric kiln
and a small budget. I'd like to make a few shelves for the kiln. I haven't
been able to find any information on this. Anybody have any suggestions?
Thanks,
David

Glaze defect after decal application, why? by
Pierre Brayford
Had the plates been around long enough after the glaze firing for them to
absorb moisture?
The decal firing softens the glaze enough for any moisture to form bubbles -
in some cases the bubbles burst making a very nasty surface.

at home to compliment a wheel class I am taking once a week. I wanted
to build a table for wedging, slab building etc. I have a bunch of 2'
x 6" pieces of composite decking left from resurfacing our deck and
was looking for...

Blistering on slipware? by
J M
Can u help?
I work with stoneware and have just been experimenting with slipware and
sgraffitto designs. At the moment I have three slips made up - white,
cobalt blue, and copper green. I decorated the ware when still 'green' with
the blue and green slip, bisque fired, then covered with a...

on crystalline glazes, and as I recall there is quite a bit of
info on her Website.
Thanks Bob! I got 402...

Wiring off the wheel,tip. by

Hi all, just joined your group after reading some of your postings.
There was some talk about wiring off pots and I thought I could share a
tip with you by way of introduction:
If, as I do, you slide your pots onto a selection of small wooden
boards it can create a'sticky' problem when you later...

kiln help please! by

Hi everyone:
I did a bisque firing last night in my Olympic Kiln with Bartlett controls. It fired fine and turned off and has been cooling all day. I went to see how hot it still was and found the failed light on. This wasn't on when I checked earlier in the day. I did the trouble shooting and...

Making lugs for casseroles by
Chari
I've gotten lots of great information from this list, but it's taken a
while to build up the courage to ask a question: Does anyone have
suggestions for making interesting lugs (handles) for shallow
casseroles? Any tips or ideas would be appreciated.

I posted this in Clayart but think I forgot to mention it her. There seems
to be a huge range in cobalt oxide pricing right now. I was wondering if
anyone knew about the range of quality.

"ned ware"?? by
pbhj
I was chatting to someone about a beautiful red-glazed piece which had
veins of a purple glaze sprayed on ... I swear they said it was "ned
ware". I didn't have my wits about me at the time and so didn't ask
"what's that??".
Any clues, did I miss-hear?
Thanks,
pbhj
