Basic Machine Quilting Question by
Marcia Smith
Hello! I have a pretty basic MQ question. So...I start by pulling the
bobbin thread to the top. I anchor with a few very tiny stitches. Then I
do my quilting design. Anchor again with some tiny stitches. Now what? Do
I just snip off the threads close to the quilt top? Is there something...

How to deal with Scraps? by
Christina in Ok
Hay all,
since I have some free time, I started to work on my scrap fabrics which can
vary from 1" to 4" ( sometimes bigger) in width
I had most of them in plastic baggies sorted from size.
But my scrappy patterns call for light's, mediums, and darks. so I took
them all out, and sorted them that...

OT - Gin! by
frood
Here's a question for the group that knows everything. OK, not a question,
exactly, more of a query. I'm looking for some gin to buy for DH for
Christmas. He usually drinks Tangueray, but likes Boodles when he gets the
chance at it. There. That's it. The extent of my gin knowledge. I'd like to
get...

Found Fabric and ? mixing fabrics by
[email protected]
Ask the experts :):
Thanks to the quilter who mentioned Big Horn Quilts! I found the
fabric to finish GDD#2 's butterfly quilt, and at a decent price. (The
fabric is called 'bright rainbow squares' #17-254. Looks much more
appealing when you blow the pic up larger).
I have appliqued butterflies...

Who does Blocks of the Month? by
Lynne Van
Some of you have mentioned these from time to time, and I've
seen some of the patterns, which look amazing.
Who here does these regularly? What is your opinion on them?
Do you find them expensive?
Just wonderin',

emails I received answering all of my questions. A huge thanks to

Concept for quilt - opinions needed by
Ann
It sounds lovely Mardi
However, won't throwing in red "here and there" take away the effect of the
design? I'd think your eyes would be drawn to the red in the quilt.
Unless of course that is your desire. Draft it on paper first?

Chenille quilts by
Lynne Van
When you make Chenille quilts, how deep do you make the seams? I
was watching Fons and Porter last night and they were using a
3/4 inch seam, which seamed (vbg) deep to me.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Lynne in Toronto

Spent the day at LQS making quilts for fire victims in B.C. by
Lynne Van
This was great! One of our LQS' got samples from Northcott and maybe
another supplier. These samples, called headers, are about 12" by 18".
Last night some folks cut the headers into appropriate sized blocks and
strips, and some made dozens of 4 patches, and sorted them all into the
various...

Machine quilters associations or groups in California Bay Area by

My wife, Kim decided to get more into quilting. I just put up a

I was hoping some of you could tell me which associations or groups
in the Bay Area that would be good for her to mingle with ? We
live in San Jose, right next to Cupertino,...
