OT - Mini-Whine on Jobs by Ellice K.
So, just thought I'd share a small whine. After waiting 3 weeks for the "formal offer from HR" - once again - no job. The very nice HR chief sent me an e-mail - essentially saying that their corporate HQ in Germany has told them to hold off on new hires until after the 1st quarter. But...

Oprahization by Caryn
Rather like O.J. Simpson, the 'bushy haired stranger' who according to her had done it never materialized. Suppose it was the same bushy haired man that Dr Sam Shepard (the inspiration for The Fugitive) saw in his house the night his wife was killed? Caryn Blue Wizard Designs

Chatelaine pattern material substitution? by fran
I purchased the pattern and materials for Chatelaine's Egyptian Gardens Mandala (beware - the threads and beads are very, very expensive), and thought - why don't I see how they show against some evenly woven silk material I have? SO - I tried them out on a pale tan material. They, of course,...

Are people interested in embroidered replicas of famous art? by George
I would like to make embroidered versions of some selected famous oil paintings but I have no idea weather people like this kind of art style or not. Does anyone have any ideas about it? We did make some of silk embroidery paintings that you can view them at http://EmbroideryArtwork.com. Thanks.

What to do with first efforts? by fishnstitch
Mmeindia wrote: What do you all do with your first efforts in a particular craft or style? I suppose I could give them as gifts (some of my first needlepoints are hanging in my relatives' houses and they are treasured, though I'm way beyond them in skill now), or keep them around in a box...

One handed stitching by MargW
So, long story short - I fell off my motorcycle two weeks ago. Thank goodness for full riding suit with padding, full-coverage helmet, boots and gloves. Ended up with two broken ribs (healing nicely) and two broken metatarsals in my left hand. I had surgery on the hand last Friday and it will...

Celebration of Needlework Report by Queen City x-stitcher
Hi to the group Other than breaking out in an allergic rash all over my arms I had a very good time. In the Shaker Sampler Class, Betsy Stinner did an awesome job. She gave a great lecture on the history of the Shakers and in between she showed us how to do the stitches and the kit is full of silk...

Catherine de Medici Embroidery by Jeanine3
Today I received a book from Italy on this type of embroidery. The authoress also sent me a sample of the cotton thread (like fine string) used (a small ball) and a rather generous piece of the fabric (undyed coarse linen) with sample stitches already done in one corner! I am so pleased that I just...

So little time, so much to do! by Jane
Hello all, I have been reading rctn for about a month now and in spite of the occasional paranoid schizophrenic (whom I deal with every day at work, I don't need them during my off work hours, too!), I see alot of people whose passions are similar to mine. How does one balance all the demands on...

SPAM FROM ME by Dianne Lewandowski
A retail friend let me know that she received spam from me. Well, I didn't send it. So, anybody else that is getting it: it's not from me. We've just had this conversation here at RCTN not too long ago when Classic Stitches (I think it was) had the same thing happen. So don't get your dander...
