Sueded Tencel - which side out? by
duh who
I've got some copperish colored sueded tencel that I'm about to make a shirt
out of. The two sides each have their own qualities and I'm undecided on
which to use.
Either side shows a crumpled look, which is good.
One side is shinier and shows the weave a little more evidently. The appeal
is...

Just getting started on this sewing machine buying adventure. We found

the net for 699.00... my one question is that the pfaff salesperson
was very opinionated in her statement about the ability of the pfaff
to pretty much sew...

Pricing? by
Carey1003
When you sew for others how do you figure out pricing? Do I charge an hourly
rate? Do I charge differently for children and adults, plain vs. fancy? How
do you figure costs if they furnish all the materials? Do you add your
shopping time to the hourly rate if you have to do all the shopping or...

Alterations and Labor Day Goodies by
[email protected]
I was out on Wed., picking up some repair materials for my Mum's
clothes which she left with me. Nice lined wool slacks and a skirt, a
former purchase; the pants lack slightly over 10 inches meeting in the
front, just over her belly. Every where else, they fit fine. The
protruding stomach is the...

Suggestions for restyling a tiny vintage dress? by
BijouEtBeau
I recently picked up a slightly damaged vintage evening gown many
sizes too small for me, because I wanted to pick off the trims for
another project - heh, heh. The trims were just tacked on and came
off easily.
Once I stripped the trim off, I could see the fabric itself is
gorgeous. I...

Softening up linen by
duh who
Yes, washing softens linen but it is a long process. I have a pair of
linen
pants that now are nice and drapey even though they started as fairly
stiff.
You might try washing the linen with some sneakers because they will
"pound"
the fabric while they are together in the washer and dryer....

I need little faces in Hus. by
Valkyrie
I am sewing little bears, a two piece pattern about 8-9 inches high, the
