Cross-stitch software? by
MtnTraveler
Can anyone recommend a good, easy-to-use software that will take a
scanned photo and turn it into a nice pattern? Preferably one that will
allow the user to chose the number of different yarns needed. I've found
quite a few mentioned, but can't find any threads discussing them. Thanks.

Stitching away by
Cheryl Isaak
Well, I'm done with all the online stuff of the morning. As soon as I with

Ok - what is the wildest variegated floss/fiber you know of by
Cheryl Isaak
I'm loving the piece I'm doing in the DMC Variations dark greens, but I'm
tempted to try in working from the center out in something wild and bright.
Hot would be good too.
So - bring them on folks. I'm going to lean toward 6 strand cottons as I'm
well in to my 4th skein of floss and will order...

New Finish - photos posted by
The Lady Gardener[_3_]
I've just finished my latest project "birds of a feather" by The Cat's
Whiskers, and have posted some pics on RCTNP.
Due to my complete inability to adhere to instructions, I changed some
colours and the pattern, but I think the end result is very pleasing.
I treated myself to some black Teflon...

Colours by
Bruce Fletcher (remove dentures to reply)
Although I'm colour-blind I find the description of colours to be a
fascinating subject. Here's an article from a medieval re-enactment
group in the UK
http://www.bucks-retinue.org.uk/content/view/139/177
Or if you want to try your hand at dyeing there are lots of ideas...

Problems by
diftymac
-------------------------------------
I am brand new at this, never embroidered. Just want to make stitches to
sew kind of an applique on by hand and wanted to use thick embroidery
thread. But I can't pull the thread through the material and it took a
year and a day to get the needle threaded. ...

Stitch Away by
Donna
Hubby at the airport boarding a plane right now.
It's time to stitch.
My dearest has left the hot and humid D.C. area for hotter and drier
Phoenix. Got 3 days without him.
Other than buying a battery for the new used Mazda, I've got no
plans.

My favorite project by
[email protected]
What has been one (or more) of your favorite stitching projects?
One of mine has been a almost totally satin stitch/long and short
stitch I did from a kid's coloring page that came in a kit. It's a
jungle scene with lots of leaves and flowers. It was a ton of fun to
stitch and very colorful. ...

Thimbles by

I'm currently working on Scarlet Quince's large version of Van Gogh's
"Starry Night". It is huge and will take me about 2 years to get it done.
I have finished less than 1/3 of it and am getting a pretty sore "needle
push finger", the middle finger, that is. Gotta get a thimble. Tried a...
