Quiet here today by
Shillelagh
Is everybody busy outside?
It's raining here (but badly needed), so I can't really complain. I've
started some tomato plants which I will set outside in approximately 3
weeks, and have planted two rows of peas.
I have golf on TV (love it), and will likely spend the evening knitting on
socks and...

bag?

2) NO zippers (I cut more yarn with zippers than I do with scissors)
3) NO Velcro
4) Stands up on its...

hat sizing by
Karlisa
I'm back with a small problem that I hope you all might help me with. I'm
currently doing some charity knitting of hats, and I've run into a problem
with the free pattern I'm using (www.warmwoolies.com) . The hat pattern is
very simple and it requires the use of either bulky weight yarn or two...

How to knit seeds in watermelon hat by
MP
HI, All,
I've just knitted the cute watermelon hat that's been around for a
while. I came across a site where someone is selling fruit hats and in
her description of the watermelon hat, she says that the seeds are
knitted into the pattern. Since the seeds are scattered, I'm wondering
how this can...

Intentional Dye Transfer by
hesira
Hi Everyone!
I followed Woolie's instructions on trying to decrease the difference
between 2 different dye lots of the same color way using intentional
bleeding of colors. Thanks Woolie! Everything went smoothly. The
merino didn't shrink at all! It was a little scary boiling it, and it
looked...

Stretchy Bind-Offs by
Alison
I'm knitting toe-up socks and looking for stretchy bind-offs for the
cuff. I've tried the sewn bind-off aka Elizabeth Zimmerman's
bind-off. It is stretchy but it seems to make the tops flare out.
I've tried the suspended bind-off but it doesn't seem to be all that
stretchy.
Any other...

Dyeing Question by
hesira
I've been trying to reduce my stash and have been working on a vintage
baby jacket from an early 1940's publication. The pattern called for
3 oz of yarn. I had 4 oz of 100% merino sock yarn that had the same
gauge, so thought I had ample yarn to make the jacket.
Nope. Made the fronts and back...

Long Tail Cast On - How much???? by
Padishar Creel
I am pretty good at estimating short rows of knitting when I cast on.
However, I am not doing a sweater is there a rule of thumb for the
long tail cast on?
Cast on 244 with size 6 needles -- so how long should my tail be for
this?
Thanks for your help!

Length of circular needles? by
myswendy
Ok, this may sound like a dumb question, but for some reason, I'm
having trouble figuring this out: I can't figure out, if a pair of
circular needles are 7 x 24 (for example), if that means it's 24
inches of nylon string between the needles or if the needles are
included in the length. All my...

Knitting
Beaded silk shawl of my own design. The knitting goes very slowly as
I have to push along several hundreds of beads as I go. I've had to
cut out two knots so far (from my $50+ hank of yarn, grrr) and make
Russian joins. It's fiddly but not challenging as such things go.
Seed stitch...

Update on my cousin by
Not Likely
Matthew and I went to my sister's place last Saturday and spent the night.
Then on Sunday we followed her and my brother-in-law to Toronto to surprise
my cousin.
My sister called to let her know that she and her husband were on the way,
so Linda expected them, but she had no idea at all that we...
