Do threads shrink when washed and dried? I have some rayon thread and polyester thread and I'm wondering if they will shrink similarly or if one will not shrink when the other will. -Monica.

thread tension by wendy
Greetings ... I have an old SEW-MOR that usually works great ... however, I changed thread recently to a heavy weight. The bobin tension is "firm" but not tight. I loosened it but it was too loose so I tightened it again to the original tension. I increased the the upper thread tension and that...

Threading help please by [email protected]
I have just purchased a new yamata model FN2-5 five thread overlock sewing machine. It came threaded of course but when I tied my thread on to it and attempted to sew, 3 of the threads broke off. The instruction book is in chinese (no kidding) with a very poor English translation and even worse...

Threading the waters carefully... by Dr. Landerstein
Greetings everyone, I will have a large list of sewing machine items to trade, and I wanted to know first if it will be okay to advertise here. I am almost sure that the answer will be yes, but I can never be too careful. So I rather check out before I get stabbed by a sewing machine needle! ...

Threads back cover by joy beeson
I just got the January (#116) issue of threads. My first thought on seeing the "blouse" on the back cover was that it must be underwear; lovely construction, but surely nobody would want to be seen like that! Then I thought that part of the underwear look came from fitting the garment to someone...

I make a fair amount of the clothes my girls wear. I try to look at what is popular, sort out what I like and think is appropriate and do similar things with the clothes I make for them. I bought a ready wear shirt for my daughter this weekend by Ecko Red. I would like to copy the technique they...

"I do not wish to debate with you. I can tell you I have forgotten more about sewing machines than you will ever know." Referring to your quote, I have a question about Singer featherweights. I know they were manufactured in the standard black, white, and light green. I've also seen a couple...
