Gauge calculation by Elby
Hi - I'm ignorant, just picking up knitting again. I have some Noro lily yarn with a gauge of 5 sts/1" on US6-7N). I want to make a sweater. I've found a pattern that calls for this gauge: 3.5 sts. = 1" on size US #10-10.5 http://www.knitlist.com/2002/FransHood.htm How can I figure out the needle...

Wonderful S.E.X by Allaya Diep
Congratulations on your find!!! I made a very nice wrap out of approximately 200 grams of mohair blend. If the mohair is really fuzzy, it can go a long way because it qualifies as a chunky weight yarn. :) Just work a nice lace pattern over large needles (I think I used 10's or 12's). Allaya

Dragon pattern by Laura
I wanted to thank everyone for the help with my search. I really appreciate it. I think my best bet is to scan a picture and work it out on knitting paper. Thanks again. Laura

paper making and linen by Els van Dam
Hi guys....I have a large bag of very old linen...Now before everyone starts to drool.....LOL It is all very old and worn stuff. Some of it is indeed lovely, but it is all old and very worn....not use-able for anything else but making paper. I got it last year from a friend who could not throw...

Selling things? by Karen
I have a question about selling knitted things. Someone told me that it is illegal to sell items that you have knitted or crocheted and did not create the original pattern for. For example, if one were to make a bunch of dish cloths or afghans and sell them at a craft fair, that it is considered...

Dragon pattern by Laura
I'm looking for a dragon pattern I can knit. I don't want to create a stuffed dragon. What I'm looking for is a pattern for a panel. I don't want cute, cuddly, or sweet. Nor do I want something vague. I know this is a tall order. I'm just looking for a little help here. If I end up creating...

Shrug? Shawl? Shoulder cover? by Katherine Burgess
Linda, I can picture it in my mind, but can't come up with a name for it. Kind of like a Moebious (and I KNOW that is not the correct spelling!). I actually saw one little thing that just sits on the shoulders and has a huge button - not sure if it is to use or just for decoration - at the breast...

FO!! an experiment by spampot
I rarely post about my FOs since I so rarely finish any, but this is one I'm kind of proud of, so I hope to have the live-in sysadmin send a pic to Martin's page sometime later this week. I had picked up a skein of some baby yarn or other (acrylic, very fine, three-ply -- maybe even laceweight)...

Finnish friends please help by Anna MCM
I would like to crochet the little bag on page 62 of Kauneimmat Käsityöt n. 4 2003 (hope I wrote right the magazine name). A very kind Finnish speaking friend of me translated the directions into Russian, but they don´t seem to work for me. I can´t get the rippled stitch as on the pic! It shoudn´t...

Hello! I read you, by Aud
.....but I am going back to work in 2 days, and I am in the middle of the prosess to make my house "tidy"!! :-)) Not washing or cleaning windows, but tried to get rid of to much stuff! And that is all sorts of clutter. In our summerhouse I have what I need, but not to much. Every year I go through...

That 'gardening' post, regarding the 'fire'.... by Noreen's Knit*che
The fire wasn't at Jack Daniels (Lynchburg, TN), it was at Jim Beam...(Clermont, KY). It was in a barrel storage area, and a bunch of barrels of whiskey dribbled into the river.... the fish died. Noreen BTW, "I" like JD, Don likes JB... And let's not forget that Southern fave... Rebel Yell!! g --

OT question about a recipe by Sew-Sew Lady
Not very long, like less than 24 hours. Fresh avocadoes will start turning brown very quickly, even if you put some lemon or lime juice in it. If you're making it for a party, cut up all the other ingredients in advance, but don't slice and mash the avocadoes until the very last...

stinky yarn by Laurie
Good stuff. I should have specified it is acrylic. Just some Mary Maxim stuff. I'll get some Febreeze so I can at least work with it and then wash the finished products. Thanks guys, I was worried that they were a waste of even the few bucks I spent. Now I hope Febreeze works on the pattern...
