Batting remnants, anyone? by
Sherry
I always manage to buy a much larger piece of batting than I need, and
of course, can't throw the remnants away.
I know there's someone here who sews for an animal rescue--I
apologize, but I'm an infrequent poster and haven't quite learned
everyone's identities--I was wondering if she could use...

Alice
In keeping with Pat in VA's latest "hot topic", I just finished a Candy Cane
Quilt in the Churn Dash pattern...all red and white. It's the last picture
in my "Quilts" album.

WAY OT - Washers again by
Cindy Schmidt
Was wondering if a couple of you would mind doing a test for me. I am
curious as to how long it takes for your washer to do 1 load of clothes.
From the minute the water starts filling up the tank till the final spin.
Wanting to compare it to mine to see if I need something more energy...

Long arm machines by
John
I would like an informed opinion of the various long arm machines.
They are pretty thin hereabouts, so that it is hard to test drive one
unless you know somebody who has one and will let you use it. Does
anybody have any experience on any of the various ones available and
if so what are the pros...

Paper-pieced or applique Japanese girls? by
Johanna Gibson
I wonder if any of you know a good link or links for a paper-pieced
or appliqued girl in a kimono. I thought it would be nice to make a
little wallhanging for my friend's mum, who gave me all that kimono
silk. My friend Misue's mum will be visiting in 2 weeks, and I
thought I could give her and...

OT - Prawn recipes? by
Johanna Gibson
Hello,
As some of you know, I do cooking and babysitting at my friend
Keiko's on Tuesdays and Thursdays. She went shopping on Monday, and
bought prawns for me to use on Thursdays. Usually I can just go in
the kitchen, have a look at what she has, and come up with something.
I'm not used to...

OT- Finch feeders by
Jane Kay
I haven't been doing much quilting lately, only at my guild
meetings. At home I just made some cloth tubes to hold
thistle seed. I have been buying them but something is
tearing them open and spilling the seed out so buying them
got too expensive. I bought some $1-a-yard sheer knit at
Wal-Mart I...

You can't take it with you by
Taria
I spent the morning with a dear old quilter friend. She has an
extensive collection of old 30's and on vintage fabric and other
old quilt related 'stuff'. What kind of arrangements do folks
make for where this kind of stuff would go after they pass. She
is not in need of money and her kids have...

OT skeleton from the in-laws closet by
NightMist
For a long time I and my kids have wondered why my BIL named his
dachsund Clyde. It was so not the kind of name he would pick for a
pet. He is the kind of guy that names kittens Skullcrusher. The
closest he ever got to cute was naming his kid's pet rabbit
Hossenffefer (it was a joke, but it stuck)....

African Wall Hanging - new pix by
Bronnie
Here's the link to my webshots album to check out my latest quilt
"Savannah Sunset".
Original design, I worked out the background and drew the 3 figures
and zebras in EQ6. Hard to see in the pix, but there is a map of
Africa in the background quilting, you can zoom in on it.
It was a really fun...

Happy Dancing! by
Kate G.[_2_]
finally got it finished.... label and all.... and the quilt is in the mail!
The baby is the first grandchild of dear friends. Their children grew up
with my children. They are like my own.
Dad is a jet pilot for the USAF.... so the pattern (once I saw it) was easy
to choose!
You can see it...

Pictures posted by
Sandy
I've just posted some pictures of my camp projects from this year. One
of them is even finished! ;) Of course, it started out as a kit from
Sharon Schamber, and she'd already done all of the machine embroidery on
it, so all that was left was to do the corded piping and finish the
binding. You...

Reporting on the new thread by
Polly Esther
Patti in Seattle asked on the 20th if any of us had any experience with
InvisiFil. The only place she had seen it offered was in a collection of
small spools.
InvisiFil has been described as: "100 weight, soft polyester, 2 ply
thread for machine quilting and appliqué (top and/or bottom...

Ricky Tims Seminar (LONG) by

Hello! Just last week I had the good fortune to attend
a Ricky Tims Seminar in Richmond, Virginia. The event
ran for several hours on Thursday evening, all day
Friday, and all day Saturday ... about 15 hours of
quilting demonstrations and lectures! Ricky gave most
of the sessions, while Libby...

OT -Life update by
Jen in FL
Hi, all.
Thanks so much for all of the responses to my post on Friday. I was
able to finish my project on time - college statistics is tough.
I can't remember the last time I was keeping up with the group. I
lost motivation a few years back, when my Dad's throat cancer spread
to his lungs. I...

Quilterscache by

I've just been looking through Quilterscache, and there really are some
gorgeous blocks there. Its sometime since I looked through properly, and
I got so carried away I forgot what I was looking for. There seem to be
more unusual ones there than I remember, and its fascinating to see how
they...
