I'm back - on and off topic - long by WitchyStitcher
I got back last night after being away for 9 days to over 1200 messages. I started reading them and then realized I'd be here for days! I apologize if there are things I should have responded to and didn't. We flew down to Florida to pick up Joey, my mom's golden retriever. My niece had been...

Sapphire Machine Report by teleflora
OK I really like this machine. The woman I went with ended up buying one. The only reason I didn't is because it doesn't weigh much less than my Designer SE. If the Sapphire had been around when I bought the SE, that would be the machine I would be using now. It has almost every feature that...

birth (rather than baby) design by Anne Rogers[_3_]
There is a conference about childbirth in California next year, to help raise money to cover costs, there will be a silent auction of hand made items, I'm not clear on whether they have to be birth related, but, I think they may well be likely to raise more money if they are. The logo for the...

free standing projects by Dorothy McNutt
When you are machine embroidering doilys and bowls, do you use heavier weight thread than what you use for regular embroidery? This is for freestanding. I use the 40 weight robison anton. dreamboat http://community.webshots.com/user/dreamboat116

VERY OT Water heaters without a tank by Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
I've been doing some pondering- I know very dangerous! BG Living alone now, I realized I am paying to keep a tankful of hot water heated for many, many hours without none to minimal usage. If I shower 7 times a week, wash 3-4 loads of laundry and run the dishwasher 3-4 times per week then I...

Hi, haven't disappeared by grammykathy
Things have been nuts around here. First have had grandgirls a lot and couldn't get on, was trying to get 2 twin quilts done before the 2 oldest got back from their daddy's. Would have made it if Daddy hadn't brought them home a week early. Then had computer problems then internet problems,...

OT - update on Tiina by Karen, Queen of Squishies
Taken from her husband's blog site: Tuesday 24.07.2007 22.15 Well my mother-in-law had called several times to the hospital to find out how Tiina was. She hadn't come back to her room by 8 PM so she called again at 10 pm. The surgery ended at 6.30 PM and if I understood right it went well. Too...

A tiny bit OT by Butterflywings
After mumbleity mumble years, I'm finishing DD's RaggedyAnn/Andy dolls (only have the rest of the hair to go) Thus my questions: when you 'do' the hair, how close do you put it together (they only say 3 rows--but that looks sparse to me), AND do you cut the yarn or leave it in loops? Don't say...

Festival of Quilts at the NEC by Patti
Just wanted to post a quick note to ask about meeting up at the FOQ next week. So far, Sally at the seaside, Joan from Coventry and I will be meeting on Thursday, at 11.30, at the Quilters' Guild stand (which is usually just inside the main entrance). If anyone else is going to be around on that...

O my gosh! It came back!! by Sherry
I marked a quilt with one of those (allegedly) easy-wash-out light- blue markers. I made some mistakes, and decided to start over, got a wet sponge and "erased" what I'd done. I just went to iron the border where I'd started, and the blue marks *came back*!!! I didn't know it was going to do that!!

what is a fair price to charge for maching piecing? by judy in fort worth
I have been asked to machine piece a quilt top for a friend. She will supply all of the fabric and also have the top machine quilted. (I do not do that part of the process on anything larger than a throw.) Anyone have any suggestions on what I should charge for this work? I know that people...

OT Breast Cancer Rant by steve
Hello All Well, I am on a rant today, let me tell you. A former student of mine, whom I think very highly of, is at home this evening caring for his mother who had a complete left breast mastectomy today. That is not even half of what irritates me. She arrived at the hospital at 6:00 am and...
