Just got a call about making someone a quilt by julia sidebottom
Funny how some things come up when you are least expecting it. I just got a call from my sister. Someone she knows saw one of the quilts I made for her daughter a few Christmas' ago. She asked my sister to give me a call to find out how much I would charge her to make one for her like it. I...

Does it get better than this? by Marcella Peek
What a great day! I hope tomorrow at the new job is just as nice. My eyes are still bugged out from reading $1 a yard fabrics! The store near me that just went out of business only marked down 25 percent off. Not such a deal when I get that when I teach. Oh well. marcella In article...

OT Anniversary of Hurricane Katrina by Patti
I have no words, Terri. And I only read a few snippets - couldn't manage the whole. Let us hope that, somehow, the world of the south comes out a better place than it has now become. I'm not judging, just hoping. .. In message , Terri ...

It Takes a Village to make a quilt by Joan
Well, it's just about the end of a hot August, and it's time to cool down, both from the heat and finishing the new quilt. Popser's story tells what happened, and the quilt is up with gratitude, so I think I''ll go to the beach and watch the waves make quilts on the sand. Something like...

OT Miss Paisley by AliceW
Thanks to all of you who responded to my request for strength. We held Miss Paisley as she slipped into a sweet sleep at 7pm tonight. She gave kisses and buried her head into my DHs arm. We felt her last heart beat and let her go to be with our Brandy who has been waiting for her since...

Ebmroidered quilt blocks by julia sidebottom
Ever since I have been out of the hospital (mid April) for the last time, laying in bed with my sewing machine doing embroidered quilt blocks has been a good thing for me. So I decided it was time to try my hand at digitizing some of my own designs. Well right now I am stitching away at my...

Holiday quilting warning by Polly Esther
You might want to pre-wash any fabrics to be used for holiday stitching if you want them to be merry and bright. The brilliant reds and greens I used for placemats and table runner bled and faded to muddy toast. Probably this could happen with any other color plan if you are into a magenta and...

Question About Minkee by Nancy in NS
Ergo...what *exactly* is it? I've found lots of sites that carry it online, but it's difficult to tell from the photos exactly what it's made of. Is it a cotton? fleece? I can see that it's very soft. I'm sure this is a "duh" question, but you never know if you don't ask. :) Nancy in...

Hi there! I need your help please!!! I have almost finished a quilt and wouldn't you know it - run out of a major piece of fabric! I returned to my local store (Patches, Indooroopilly, Qld), where I initially bought the fabric (from a very full bolt 2 weeks ago) and now it's all been sold....

What would you do? by Debbie
Hi all, Just thought I'd get some opinions on a problem that has come up. When people find out you make quilts they all want one. Problem is, I don't mind making relatives one for free, but my MIL has asked me to make her bosses one each (she has two bosses) for Christmas. She says she will pay...
