Loctite 330 Adhesive by
Cameron Robb
Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has experience of using Loctite 330 adhesive?
My particular application is gluing gold to ivory.
I have had a couple of bad experiences with joints coming apart after using
Araldite, both normal cure and "rapid". I originally thought it was due to
over stressing a...

Mounting Ancient Coins by
dwelsh46
I am a dealer in ancient coins, and want to introduce a line of coin
jewelry.
I need a method for mounting these irregularly sized and shaped coins in
sterling and gold frames or bezels, without having to fabricate each
mountiing using traditional jeweler's methods such as casting or soldering.
I...

Question for the group by
GAZ
Do any of you make custom pieces designed around a fancy cut stone or is
most of your stuff designed around off the shelf, buy it by the kilo,
stones?
If the fancy stones, where do you buy them and is the premium prices
usually involved worth the effort?
Thanks

Cup Burr by
Charlie
Can anyone tell me where I can get a cup burr in the UK? It's for finishing
the ends of ear wires and similar. I've only found one as part of a large
set and I can't really afford to pay more than is necessary!
Many thanks,
Charlie.

good vs bad white gold by
HurricaneMB
I've got a white gold engagement ring that I just love. However,
after reading up on white gold after I got it, I'm a bit annoyed. The
way I understand it, in the US, most white gold is made of a nickel
and gold alloy, which is somewhat yellowish, so a rhodium plating is
applied to make it bright...

ring alteration - K -> G ? by
Terry Paterson
Hi There,
hoping this is a sensible place to ask...
my partner is rather petit at 4ft 11in - and has similarly small
fingers (measured as size G by a high street jeweler this weekend)..
however all of the rings that she has seen and likes only go as small
as a size K,

I was wondering if anyone has any first hand knowledge of buying
jewelry in Canada, Toronto specifically and getting great prices. A
friend told me about someone he knew buying an engagement ring at
Tiffany's and getting it at a better price than here in the States due
to the exchange rate and...

possible to add anything to the flux to return it to its semi-fluid state,or
does anyone here know how to make home made flux(for silver work at this

Same little problem for a tube/syringe of silver solder .

[ADVERT] I have some stained glass type coated foil tape.... by
Christi Conley
I made a mistake and bought black foil tape and silver
foil tape not realizing the inside was colored, not the
outside - so, I have 2 brand new rolls, 1/4 x 36 yards
of copper foil coated tape. I got them from Stained
Glass Warehouse and I think I paid $5 and $6. You
can have the pair for $7,...

Book question by
Bawdy Arietta
What is the most comprehensive book on colored gemstones currently available
and where can I get it? I have a rather outdated one by Joel Arem (which I
still use and adore) but would really like to update my information. I am not
a gemologist -- just someone who loves colored gems.
Thank...

Hi All,
Happy Holidays.
I trust those of you, like me, who've been going nuts playing "santa's elf", or
otherwise serving the public's jewelry needs, now get a well deserved rest and
holiday. Judging by the low volume of messages this last week, I'd guess I'm
not the only one of you who's been...

High Mercury Content in Silver Bracelet by
KJ
Hello,
I am not sure if this is the right place to post this or not, but I
really have no other idea where to turn with this question. I
purchased a silver bracelet from www.bluenile.com for Valentine's Day
of 2003 (the order was made in January, 2003). The item was
approximately $40 in price...

How to cast with alginate? by
\Alex Bobotek
I'm having trouble casting reduced-size objects using alginate.
The object is to make a pair of earrings about 2/3 the size of a
pendant that I made a rubber mold from.
I have made alginate miniatures by troweling
wet alginate in the mold, removing it once it gels, and letting it dry
to shrink. ...
