Can off-the-rack clothes be tailored? by
2obvious
I was watching an "X-treme Makeovers" rerun last night, and I saw a
stylist advising a guy to have his tie-dyed T-shirts tailored. I'd
never considered this possibility, but now that it's in my head...
I wear a lot of T-shirts (very few button-up shirts). I'm willing to
invest the time and...

Pattern Alteration for Full Bust by
TerriLee in WA
Can any of you point me to a web site and/or a book giving instructions
for altering a pattern to fit a large bust? (40D in US) Every technique
I've ever tried has not turned out well. Things pull across the front
and the back (I have broad shoulders, too) and the armholes are always
too tight. ...

PLEASE HELP--my stash needs to be reduced by
Irene
Hello All,
I have hit that place in life where I have more fabric than I will use
in a lifetime. I would like to give it away but I have to ask you to
pay for the shipping.
We are talking about 100% cotton, mostly Hoffman, Marcus, etc. that
has been stored pet-free and smoke-free after washing...

Dart question by
Melinda Meahan - take out TRASH to reply
My daughter finally taped together her jumper pattern (from my pattern
drafting software) and when we made it up in some navy gabardine I got
for cheap from trimfabric.com and she tried it on, we decided that the
fabric doesn't have enough interest itself to carry the straight line
and needed some...

Iron on transfers of pictures by
Carol
Has anyone used iron on transfers for putting pictures on tshirts or
pillow cases? Any tips? Is it best to copy the picture directly onto
the transfer paper or have picture scanned and then use a printer?
Thanks.

Shot fabric by
duh who
Not much out there on shot fabric. I find a little. I'd also be looking at
something of shirting quality, little thicker than maybe quilting needs.
Anybody know any sources? I was looking at Portsmouth Fabrics, but their
website is broken when you try to look at the detail of a fabric.

Advice on color coordination by
Jennifer
Hello,
I just moved in with my boyfriend who has a beautiful antique couch/
chair set. The upholstery is is a dark, forest green. The wood on
the furntiure is very dark brown. Our walls are creme colored, and
want to make pillows that will liven up the room. Any suggestions on
what may work?

I know there's instructions online for doing your own fitting dummy (or
whatever they are called). Can anyone point me to one of those instruction
sites, or to someone who sells adjustable dummies for men?

Serger learning curve by
Diana Curtis
Hi, its me again.. sometimes lurker, occasional poster, with a new serger. I
chose the White 1600 because of the price and a friend was very happy with a
similar model. I figured its a place to start, to see if I enjoy and will
use a serger. So far I like using it. Threading it was interesting, a...

Has anyone heard of or know anything about Elize 'CT4-820'
multineedle chainstitch machine (smocker?) with clutch motor? It's
probably from the early 70's (guessing). I have one and would like to
sell but I know nothing about it, nor can I find anything on it.

buttonholes by

Hi all,
I'm fairly new to this newsgroup, though I've been lurking a while. It seems
like a great resource.
Anyway, I'm in the market for a new sewing machine. Previously I've been
borrowing my mum's old mechanical machine, which does straight, a couple of
varieties of zig-zag, and what I think are...
