Shocking the employees at Jo-Ann's by
duh who
I went into Jo-Ann's tonight to get some interfacing. I'm not sure how the
woman got the idea that I was "repairing" my own shirts. When I said
"Repair? I make them from scratch."
And then there's Betzina's books that never deal with men's clothing.
Its such a hard life living with this...

Hi all,
I want to find fabric for around $1.00 a yard. Could you please
provide me with mail order sources or URLs of sites that sell
fabric for this price? I would really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!

fabric stores in Europe?? by
SewStorm
Christy, I hope you're going to Paris! There are some wonderful places to shop
there, including, but not limited to, Montmartre, which has at least a dozen
fabric stores. There's also a wonderful button and yarn shop near Les Halles. I
thought I had a link to it, but can't seem to find it. But I...

Plackets again by
duh who
I was just looking in my Reader's Digest sewing guide, and it shows another
placket style. I think its a faced placket that is used with French cuffs.
I'm wondering how it would look if I used a regular cuff, not a folded over
French Cuff, and, instead of having two button holes for cufflinks,...

Dem plackets by
duh who
OK, betwixt glue stick, hand-basting, and watching what the hell I'm doing,
I'm having better luck with the plackets.
I saw another version of a placket in a book where that little pinnacle is
sewn before hand, and then turned inside out before sewing it down to the
shirt. So, instead of having...

*&%^%@$*&^ Plackets by

Put them in BEFORE you sew the side seams.......much simpler that way. Then
sew the side seam and sleeve seam all in one go.

Sewing Eye Dog by
[email protected]
I think I need one..or soon will, at the rate at which I am
deteriorating. Last week, I stuck my finger in my eye and broke a blood
vessel. Everyone would look at me, tear up in sympathy, then I'd have to
fetch them a tissue. This is not a good pity gig.
Sun. night, my contact lens slid into the...

Good Morning Ladies
I have read and enjoyed all of your postings, they are wonderful. The
question is how do I clear them out after I have read them. They are
multiplying like bunnies
Also, what is all this "trash Spam " that has come in the last 24 hours.
Is it dangerous ?. I have sent them all...

What is Lurex? by

I'm seeing some fabric called cotton Lurex. I'm not sure if what I'm

fabrice what was woven from two different thread colors, one color running

Organic fabric source needed/ Personal Opinions on the topic by

I had two children who were allergic to disposable diapers -- if they
had them on, their bottoms would turn BEET RED in less than two hours --
All three of mine were allergic to disposables, and since I always thought it
was BARBARIC to put an innocent little baby in plastic and paper all day,...

Faux Western Yokes? by

I'm trying to adapt a shirt pattern to do a faux western yoke. I've been
doing these short-sleeve "sport" shirts out of contrasting batik fabrics.
The fronts and backs of the shirt, and collar, are one fabric, and the yoke
and sleeves are another fabric. The first one I did was with very...

Help with flower girl's dress by
Arlinda
I am making a dress for a flower girl. I am not a professional seamstress
but I have sewn many nice dresses. The fabric is a satin with just a hint
of shine. It has a 'slub' design that is selvage to selvage. It is
probably a dupioni (sp?). I'd say it almost looks to have a linen look....

Need Source for sturdy Diaper Pins by
Mary
Hello,
I am looking for a source of for sturdy diaper pins. It seems that they have
gone into hiding. I can find flimsy safety pins, but what I am looking for
is the pins that we used to buy with the plastic heads.
