Spike Driver
A friend out of our area asked me what is a good book to get to learn
how to knit in color, 3 or more colors. I was lucky and had a close
relative that knitted many items in several or more colors
I have not seen any that show how to carry the yarn in the back and etc.
Any good...

knit-to-crochet conversion by
Amber
ok, I need some help. I fell in love with this yarn and bought 4 balls
of it. On the label it says size 8 pins, and a 10 by 10 inch swatch
should yield 16 rows high by 12 rows wide. The ball 50g and is 50
meters long.
What I'd like to know, is what the crocheting equivalence. What size
hook is...

Sunday morning, 4 Feb by
WoolyGooly
Today I'm dyeing 2oz bundles of Romney roving. I plan to spin
froghair and ply two contrasting colors with black wool/silk for sock
yarn.
It is obvious to me that I'm not supposed to be knitting right now. I
can't maintain a consistent gauge (witness the sweater planned as a
45" chest that...

Catskill Merino Yarn by
Alison
I was in Manhattan yesterday and stopped by the Greenmarket. There
was a vendor there selling Catskill Merino Yarn, dyed with natural
dyes. I bought 2 skeins of indigo-dyed yarn and am thinking I'll make
mittens out of them. It's pretty much worsted weight and a lovely
soft blue.

Wood: Yew do it? by
Maybe?
But, bamboo *does* do it!.
It turns out that commercial bamboo needles in sizes ~ US #4 - #6 do have a
spring constant that is suitable for use with a knitting sheath or pouch.
This opens up a world of fast and easy knitting for those of you that like
looser fabrics. With # 4 *aluminum*...

Latest handspun by
WoolyGooly
Hi y'all. Here's a photo of a hank of handspun I finished on Monday.
It is a 3-ply yarn: two plies of space-dyed superwash merino, one ply
of black merino/silk for strength and to make the stuff go farther. I
ended up with just shy of 500yd of yarn, now I have to decide if I
want to make a skinny...

Black Sheep Yarn by
[email protected]
My husband would love to have a sweater knitted from black sheep. Is
it possible to get naturally "black" wool? If so where would one find
it?
TIA,
Caroline

Slipperiness and Continental style by
Harlan Messinger
I'm a new knitter and I'm doing fine with English style. I'm working on
getting the hang of Continental style because of its advantages--I think
that if I get it down, it'll be faster, and I'm going to want to try
Fair Isle knitting with the two-hand method. I'm starting to get the
hand...

Just back from Wales by
Mary Fisher
I took my pink Denise needles with me and gave daughter another set (this
was a late Christmas). I'm very pleased with the system and since I have
breast cancer I'm happy that some of the proceeds go to bc charity.
She gave me a hank of lovely white wool she'd spun from her own sheep's
fleece....

Happiness is a new spinning wheel by
Vintage Purls
Well, okay an "almost new" spinning wheel. I managed to buy an ex demo
Ashford double-drive traditional wheel for a song on Trademe (our local
equivalent of eBay). It arrived today and was quickly assembled. My old
wheel was over 30 years in age and rather clunky. The new one runs
beautifully...

Need help decreasing by

many stitches in the row. I started out with 68. After knitting a few
rows, I now have 69, and I can't find where the extra stitch was added.
Without ripping out and starting over how do I get rid of the extra...
