joann's oven by Diana Curtis
When I got their (joann's) flyer today I saw they are selling an oven promoted to be for polyclayers (and other artistic endeavors I didnt note) and wondered if it is something anyone here has used and liked? Is it significantly better than a toaster oven in holding the correct temperature...

cooking poly clay - when is it done? by peter
I followed the instruction and cook the clay for 15 min at 275F. When I removed it, it is still elastic. Does that mean it's not cooked, or does it harden after it cools down? I ended up cooking it a few more minutes until it hardened. But I'm not quite sure if it was necessary.

Roses are Red by D Curtis
http://pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/lunamom44/detail?.dir=/5a1a&.dnm=d018.jpg Roses are one of my favorite things to make from polyclay, and I love ornaments with roses, so this was a serendipitous project which I created to honor the marriage of two new, already dear friends. It is almost done, the only...

I am very interested in starting to learn about poly clay crafts and am wondering if a kiln is absolutely necessary. Would my home oven work as well (it's electric, not gas). -- To enjoy the flavor of life, take big bites. Moderation is for monks!

Another dremel question by Carla
Okay, I just tried using a Scumbuster to some sanding. It was an...interesting experiment :) Along with sanding a few beads, I sanded the inside of the kitchen sink, my nails, and a couple of fingertips. I figure I need a longer rod to hold the bead on, so I don't have to get my hand so close to...

in the style of "memory vessels" by cAndRaley
Hello, I made a clay-covered tin that reminds me of the "memory vessels" in folk art/tramp art. The memory vessels were usually bottles or jugs, sometimes boxes, covered with various found objects like keys, buttons, etc. Some were then covered with a unifying color, some weren't. Thought I'd...

Want to make buttons by Kathy
Hi, I am interested in making my own buttons for my handmade clothes. Which type of poly clay would be best? I have a large block of cernit, but it's white, & turns a flesh color when baked. I plan on using the cernit to make molds. Should I restrict it to just the molds, or could I mix it with...

Hi everyone, I am new to the scene of polymer clays and have a few questions that I hope some of you might be able to help me with. I have been using Fimo Soft to create my wine charm product that I hope to market to local stores one day soon - it is very easy to use and requires virtually no...

question about canes by Marissa Undercofler
Well, actually two questions. One, How do you store them? Do you wrap them in waxed paper or some other sort of paper and store them or do you do something else all together. And two, how do you slice them? I have seen people talk about freezing them and then slicing. If I were to use this...

My First Class by Diana Curtis
Some might think that having a single person show up would be a dissappointment, but for me it was perfect. My student and I had fun covering real blown eggs with clay, then she took off on her own and covered a pen and made beads! I got to explain a lot of the basics with her, and she saw how...
