Needlework Tips by
Tia Mary
It's been a long time since I remember having a round of postings
dealing with different needlework tips & hints. Since things seem to be
so slow, I thought this might be a good topic, especially for any
newbies out there or those of us who just forget stuff. I'll go first
since seeing the...

Might be off topic - reading slump by
Cheryl Isaak
What's happening - are my favorite authors just not prolific enough?? Just
too many bad novels out there??? Or am I just in a slump????
Have already read the newest 500 Kingdoms book from Mercedes Lackey. The
latest Meg Winslow from Donna Andrews and the newest Vicky Bliss from
Elizabeth...

So, what is everyone doing today? by
Karen C - California
I put a load of laundry in, and now I'm going to settle in with some
stitching. I have about 2000-2500 stitches left on a birthday gift. If
I make a point of working on it daily, it'll be done in time.

Waaay OT; Muslim cartoons. by
F.James Cripwell
There is a lot of talk on places like BBC World about a set of
cartoons depicting the Prophet Mohommed in a humerous light, which were
published in a Danish newspaper. They have since been published in
several other European newspapers. I have tried to find them on the web
without success. ...

OFF TOPIC - the ladybug "lost" her mittens by
Cheryl Isaak
Last night, when I dropped all the wet snow gear in the dryer, I didn't
notice there were no mittens. This morning, at bus time, I just found
another pair.
After the bus, I noticed this pile of gray/black next to the door. Ah the
lost mittens. FROZEN IN PLACE. Since the kettle was still hot, I...

Stitcher's World magazine by
Villagplhs
Just for everyone's information, Herrschners closed the office of Stitcher's
World in Norcross GA (Atlanta) today, fired ALL of the staff, and is packing
the offices to take back to WI. No advanced notice was given. Employees were
told to pack up and leave immediately.

Need help for chemo treatment and caps to make by
Tia Mary-remove nekoluvr to reply
Vic -- go post over at RCTQ. A bunch of the quilters over there who make the
caps all the time. IIRC, Michael's has free directions to knit or crochet
them. Somewhere I saw directions to make them out of polar fleece -- try
Hancock's Fabrics for freebie directions. I tried to get to the site...

A Poll - Needlework by
Dianne Lewandowski
Please keep your answers direct, otherwise I'll be wading through this
for weeks. grin
The following questionnaire has to do with those who embroider - any
type of embroidery (canvas, cross stitch, what have you).
You own an iron and use it for your embroidery.

Needlework Proficiency Levels by
Dianne Lewandowski
This is not cut in stone. It is an attempt to come up with some
"ideal". Something to ponder.
It has to do with: If I was headmistress of a brand new needlework
school, how would I set up the curriculum, and how would you get to the
next grade level.
Note that I didn't say: cross stitch, or...

Sadness in the needle craft. by
Fred
The 1st thing that I have noticed is that there are less and less cross
stitch and needlepoint magazines in our local new stands. Some news
stands do not carry any cross stitch and needlepoint magazines period.
The 2nd thing is that we used to have six (6) LNS in my area. Three (3)
have closed...

Olympus floss - conversion chart by
Kathy Nichols
Does anyone know of a readily available conversion chart of Olympus
floss to DMC? I recently bought a Japanese book of cross stitch
patterns and would like to start using it but don't want to spend
hours trying to match Olympus to DMC.
Thanks.
