Cracking, pinholes after baking -- how to prevent? by
Frank[_4_]
FIMO soft, yellow. Making very simple 1/4" thick by 1/4" round
dots for inlaying into wood. Baking 130F for 30 minutes, pieces
invariably end up with cracks and pinholes that grab wood stain,
which muddies their otherwise bright color. Problem seems to
be worse with test pieces which *have* been...

Modeling clay as a substitute for "clay bars" for auto detailing? by
Jon Noring
Hello,
For a while I've used what is called a "clay bar" product to remove
surface contaminants from automobile paint finishes. It works very
well -- it borders on a miracle product.
How one uses it is to apply a lubricant (such as a soapy solution) to
a small section of the car and one slides...

My designs "borrowed" by
rosecatts
It has come to my attentiion that a poster here is using my designs of
inlaid crystals as her own original design. Let it be known that I was
designing these since 1999! I hope Leigh does lay the cards on the
table and let the posters at PCC know the name of the clayer who uses
other's ideas freely...

Casting in Sculpey for Miniatures by
LoopyWolf
For Xmas, I want to make small press-out parts for miniatures, that I and a friend can paint and play with over the holidays.
I was thinking the best way would be to make the minis in re-useable pieces (head, arms, legs) and the mold out of a very firm but flexible material, and press sculpey...

Lighter Covers by
The Lock
Has anyone ever made covers for like Bic- type lighters? Naturally,
I'm hinky about putting a lighter in the oven. I was curious if
anyone knew of a commercially made (cheap) sleeve that I could wrap
the clay around, bake, then slide over the lighter. Or is there a
different way of coming at this...

Knife Handles by
Belinda Alene
I have a number knife blanks that I would like to use poly-clay to make handles
and bases to hold them in a kind of statue.
Any suggestions of how to do this? Or do I just experiment until I find a
workable method?
I plan to use wire inside the hilt and base to give the clay more support...

question about hand lotions & polymer clay by
Marissa Undercofler
Since I am still new to the world of polymer clay, I have a question
regarding hand lotion and polymer clay.
I have very dry hands, so any cracks in my hands pick up the clay, as well
as leave marks..I also have a few places on my fingers where the skin is so
dry that it has flaked a bit and left...

Trying out some Halloween stuff. by
~Candace~
I am (in my mind) so into the idea of making Halloween adornments in
polyclay. Soooooo....Here's what I've done and am doing thus far.
I made a really nifty chrysanthemum cane with black, orange, purple and
green. Then I used slices to cover a heart--it's waiting to be baked. I'm
also in the...

Q about auctioning Ornament collection by
kelly
I'm debating whether to sell off my Ornament Magazine collection (it's a
BIG one). I'd like input (via EMAIL please) ( ) about any
interest there might be. I'd be willing to combine issues (3 per auction)
to specific interests if contacted beforehand, but given the amount of...
