Buying a used sewing machine (US) by Hanne in DK
Dear all, My friend is asking me about buying a sewing machine (she is in AL). She wants to spend no more than $200, which is not a lot. My first sewing machine was a $179 simplicity machine from walmart, and I did just fine on it, but the balance was an eternal struggle. Other then that, just...

I'm baaaackkkk! by Michelle1963
I've been perusing the newsgroup (with the help of Louise and her news server advice), and am delighted to see all the old familiar names here. Yes, I've been on a bit of walkabout the past year, and am trying to get into a more settled mode in my life. About last year at this time, I...

minkee finish by Karen, Queen of Squishies
I finished the baby quilt with the minkee on the back. I didn't have any problems at all, amazingly enough. I love it! But it is very slick, and it kept me a little on edge while I was doing it. I probably won't be running out any time soon to buy more, but ohhhh this one is so...

When to Walk away by Polly Esther[_5_]
Walking away is good. I was SO annoyed at the quilt I was making that I folded it and its pattern away and put it in the living room. ( Nobody goes in there hardly ever except for a weekly cleaning.) I got out all my heirloom sewing stuff - silk batiste, French lace, special ribbons and...

Pillow cases, iron & applique by Donna[_8_]
Good morning, all! Hope you're all warmer then 28 degree's! Sharing an small idea: I have spare pillow cases that I use on the end of my ironing board. Not only gives my iron board cloth a longer life, but it's easy to slip off the pillow case, wash it and thus always have a nice clean place to...

bird feet My kind of therapy by Sandy E
Howdy! Ah, the famous Helicopter Bird: he's hovering! I thought the bird had feet, but he's hovering over the branch. Maybe add a little embroidery thread to serve as a twig for the little guy to perch on for a moment. ... some embroidered parenthesis like in the cartoons to...

We saw the news story about your Dr. Pepper bottling plant. I think that place must have been near and dear to many of the locals there. This stinks, I am boycotting Snapple. I'm sorry. : ( Taria

Triangles by Barb[_4_]
I'm having a problem with triangles for a quilt I'm making. When I start to sew at a point, the fabric bunches up under the needle. It seems that the dog feet doesn't grab the fabric, so cannot push it along. Does anybody have a trick or solution to this. Barb
