2nd Fishy Quilt Top by
[email protected]
I had so much material left over that I am making a second fishy quilt. It will be nothing like the first quilt. I had 4 small fish appliqued but didn't not use because they were too small for the block I wanted to make, but found a bigger fish pattern, so that is what I used in the first quilt.....

fabric colour of the day: isabelline by
Jack Campin[_2_]
From another newsgroup...
From Michael Quinion this week:
"Isabelline refers to a colour. The dictionaries variously describe it
as greyish-yellow, light buff, pale cream-brown, dingy yellowish grey
or drab. The Merriam-Webster Unabridged Dictionary tries hardest to
tie it down: „a moderate...

String Quilts and more by
[email protected]
I painted the eyes in on my two fish quilts instead of using buttons. I really don't like buttons on quilts except wall hangings. I used paint that says it is for fabric, wood, glass and etc. Only place big enough was in the living room. Some were all black eyes and others were green with black...

Sea Glass Quilt by
[email protected]
This is my latest quilt and just started it. One I call a no brainer yet time consuming. My quilt will be 4 blocks wide and 5 blocks long. When you add in the 2 1/2 inch sashing it makes the quilt wider. I used mostly mottled colors or mixed together colors and I would have named my quilt Stain...

Singer 222 for a dollar by
Brian Christiansen
The other day I was faffing about online loking at the prices of singer
301's just to see what the price of them might be, I am not really
planning on buying one anytime soon.
The prices seemed to run between about $80 and $200-some, which seemed
to be roughly correlated with whether it was...

Concentric squares by
Brian Christiansen
On the quilt I am repairing, I am making "prototype squares," and what I
mean is that I am working out the best/fastest way to replace the
squares I am replacing.
I have a presser foot that is for sewing parallel lines. In theory,
this sounds real good for making the "concentric squares" that...

Writing my name by
Brian Christiansen
I am not announcing that I finally learned how to write my name, I have
known how to do that for several years now.
However, I think that on the quilt I have talked about repairing, and am
currently in the process of doing, instead of making my label that says
"Ruth Sherwoood, 1961, Brian...

Jumping for Joy or Rather Jumping for Floristas by
[email protected]
This quilt is in Quiltmaker magazine Nov/Dec 2016 issue. They show it as a throw but I will make more blocks and am making it wider and longer. These are 9 inch blocks. Original shows frogs but I am making my quilt floral that's why I renamed it. I may put two inner borders on it, one a 2 inch...

Teaching Quilting by
Brian Christiansen
This is kind of a test message, as I am setting up thunderbird for
reading news groups, and seeing if it is "better" than XPN newsreader.
Well, anyway, this video, from man sewing, one of my favorite you tube
channels (perhaps I will do a future post about...

Lavender Love Quilt by
[email protected]
This is the quilt I have just started on. My colors are different as I am using two prints that are the same but different colors. One a pale yellow background print and the other light blue print. Think I should name mine the Sashing Love Quilt because there is sashing in the blocks and sashing in...

Repairing a quilt, part 2 by
Brian Christiansen
Some months ago, I made a post about repairing a quilt that my
grandmother had made when I was really little (I think when I was born).
I took a look at it, and it requires a bit more work than I originally
thought, but I decided to repair it any way.
In fact, at one point I considered buying...

From Sea to Shinning Sea by
[email protected]
This is my newest quilt and there were a lot of squares and rectangles to cut out. I used 5 different blues; light, medium and dark and 5 different beige, cream and very light tans. When sewn together it makes a rectangular block. I did not use fat quarters but brought 3/4 yds. to 1 yards pieces of...

weight of new home 445 by
Brian Christiansen
I have a New Home 445, and I was wondering how much it weighs. It is
from the early 60's I think. I have been unable to find its weight
online.
Based on how much it costs to ship one via UPS standard ground, 33.75
(based on the shipping costs an for one on ebay), it appears to be
between 30...

Pictures of quilt I am repairing by

At my flickr account, https://www.flickr.com/photos/brian0908/albums, I
just posted some pictures of the quilt I am repairing, in the first
album, called quilt progress. I also put a comment under each one that
describes what the picture is of. I thought I might have to delete some
pictures,...

Merry, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year by

Wonder Clips vs. portfolio clips by
Brian Christiansen
I am considering getting either Wonder Clips or Porfolio clips to use
instead of pins, at least in some applications.
I first looked into ordering them online from Joanns or Office Depot
respectively, then actually picking them instore (I can do that for both
so I did not factor shipping...
