Hi, I am going to Italy in early September and might have *time* for some museum/shopping that is needlework related. Does anyone know of shops or museums in Italy? We will have extended time in Florence, Venice and Rome. Also we are visiting Assisi and other smaller towns. Any information...

Working on linen with carpal tunnel by Jo Y.
Hi, I've developed carpal tunnel from holding linen in my left hand for stitching. I've always heard you aren't supposed to use a frame when working with linen, what would my options be? Thanks, Jo

Martial Arts by Bryan Dambach
I just wanted to say thank you for all of your help with search for a pattern for this. Teresa Spear sent my daughter a beautiful pattern that I just finished helping her to change the color of the belt. Her Tae Kwon Do instructor thinks the pattern is great and she wants to use it after we...

I was interviewing Lorna Reeves, editor of Just Cross Stitch Magazine today and we ended up discussing her editorial in the Oct. 2003 issue...gee, I wonder why? LOLOL Anyway, I decided that it made sense for me to go ahead and post an excerpt from the interview right away regarding this topic. (I...

Roman vs Romanian Stitch by Dianne Lewandowski
It looks lousy in Netscape browser. I'm in the process of completely revamping my site. But this will do. ALL comments welcome. It is one of those "sit around the table and throw out concepts and opinions" types of "essays". Everyone's entitled to their opinion. This page, of course, argues...

Tricky Terms by Linn Skinner
We're getting into the "terms discussion" againG I get a little passionate about terms sometimes but try to be mellow most of the time. My preferences (admitting not much in the world is written in stone) a Embroidery: Any work produced with a needle, a fiber and a ground Needlepoint: ...

beading/embroidery frame for sale by Paul Ginandes
Hi folks, I have a frame for sale. It is hand made, of solid oak, with rolling front and back sides, about 36" wide, with ratchet mechanisms. These are also fitted with cotton panels to allow the work to be pinned or basted on. It can accomodate a work piece of 36" width, and almost any length at...

Haircut Survey by JAKL
It wouldn't be fair if I answered this survey, since I'm a stylist. Well, I know more about this class project than Erica posted because she and I brainstormed together. I think your input would be especially valuable! Jenn L. View My Webshots:...

Inspirations #39 by Elegant Embroidery
It has finally arrived - and it is another delightful issue. The main project is "The Magical Pomegranate" and it looks superb. I have a passion for pomegranates in print and embroidery, but would walk across hot coals rather than eat one! As a bonus issue #30 was attaches as a freebie, and I...

Survey Question: ages of needleworkers? by wild
Hi all, after reading one or two posts in The Garden, there seemed to be a repetetive debate on the expected age of a needleworker. I assume that most posting here are in the 40+ age range, but, purely out of interest, I would like to do a survey - and this includes all lurkers who donīt normally...

Stitch Version 1.2 Question by Brenda Lewis
Piggybacking: Is there any way to print in any mode other than symbols? I've experienced this same problem with the backstitching. This creates a lot of clutter especially when the backstitching is all in one color so those symbols are unnecessary. Jenn Vanderslice wrote: I'm trying out this...

Light Reading . . . includes needlework by Dianne Lewandowski
A very dear occasional poster on RCTN sent me a book to read. It was such an "easy" read, a good story, and the heroin is passionate about needlework. So, if you enjoy this sort of things, you might want to pick up Kathleen Gilles Seidel's "Please Remember This." A little mystery, a little love,...
