The small work light (behind the needle) of my Bernina 1080 is giving me fits. The on/off switch does engage properly. As long as I'm holding the switch button in, the lights stays on. When I release the button, the light goes out. I'm been told by a local Bernina dealer that the switch is...

new to sewing- need advice please by DKiely33
Hi, I'm new to sewing and need to know what machine is best to buy for sewing *stretchy* fabrics for dance-type wear such as lycra and stretch velvet. Is a serger better than a regular machine? If yes, then why? What price range am I looking at for a new machine? Any advice or additional info is...

Is it me or my machine? by bromeliad
I purchased a White Jeans Machine a few weeks ago. I've always wanted to sew, but I didn't know how far I would go with it as a hobby, so I opted for something basic that could do heavy fabrics for home decorating. I'm new to sewing, but many years ago I did sew a dress on my mom's Singer (and yes,...

Duct Tape Double almost here by duh who
OK, did the wrap tonight, cut it off, but the damned tape is giving off fumes that are getting to me. I'm letting it set outside overnight. I haven't taped up the cut line yet. What's the best thing to fill it with? Particularly if I want to put it on a stand. Dwight

How much to charge? by Lori Reynolds
Hi there -- I've been asked by our local ballet (at which my 10 year old daughter is a student) to make some costumes. I've had lots of experience making things for my own family's use, but have never charged anyone a fee, so I don't know what I'm worth, so to speak. I'd love to have some input...
