'new' fabric by AK&DStrohl
I was just perusing the www.denverfabrics.com site and I came across a fabric type that I had never heard of before. Silk Gazar. It looks almost cloudlike. Can't tell if it is translucent/transparent/opague. Soft hand or fimer/crisper? Does anyone know? AK in PA

why turn clothes inside out for washing by Alan Horowitz
I first observed people doing this when washing clothes by hand, in the Philippines. I presumed it was a local folkloric nonsense. Just recently, I noticed that the fine print of the Care Label of my jeans, includes a instruction to turn inside out before washing. What is the reason for it?

I always press my pants because they're pure cotton. And because they were properly tailored to measure, so pressing them makes them last longer, too. I'm intruiged by the pants-presser appliances I've seen (for example, at Hammacher Schlemmer). Do these things really work well?
