Maybe a stupid question about dishcloths and I'm changing my name by
Qintes
All the "Knit/Crochet Dishcloths" booklets I've seen say you have to use
100% cotton yarn. Why is that? Can't I use my handy acrylic stuff?
And my name is too boring and common. There are tons of Pams out there.
I can get lost in the shuffle. I need a unique name like Mirjam so
you don't...

great time with us.
Some of us are 'seasoned' in yarn and thread crafts, but even someone new
to a craft CAN and DOES have plenty to contribute,...

?? Is something knit on a manual knitting machine "hand knit"? by
I am seeing items made on knitting frames, i.e., manual knitting machines,
labeled as "hand knit". Is this legal, or fair and proper?
And, are there stitches, designs, or patterns that can not be "machine knit"
and thus demonstrate to knowledgably people that the object was knit with
needle in...

knitting socks by
Jennym
Hello all
I'm trying to teach myself how to knit socks and I'm getting on all
right (once I figured out that when knitting in the round stocking
stitch you just keep on knitting and it's fine). I just wondered about
wool types. Currently I'm using DK. Would knitting in 4-ply be worth
all the extra...

spinning by

I've recently taken up knitting again after a few year break, and was
perhpas thinking of spinning my own yarn, but I have never done this
before, and frankly, I don't really know much about spinning.
Would anyone know of a great website or book that could teach me more
about this? While I have...

cable stitch without cable holder? by

I thought I had saved a posting that explained how to make a narrow
cable stitch without using the cable stitch holder. However, now I
can't find it. If anyone has a link, I would appreciate it.
Thanks in advance!

Knitting a flat circle - the math? by
Gallagher
I want to knit a flat circle (about 10" across) and not use short rows. I've
looked at a couple of dishcloth and doily patterns and am trying to figure
out the math used to get it flat.
All the ones I've seen have you start in the middle with a few stitches on
DPN. I'd rather start on the outside...

Leopard Print crochet blanket pattern? by
Bryan
A friend of mine wants me to make a leopard print baby blanket to match the
Noah's Ark theme nursery. Any suggestions on where to find a yellow & brown
or black mix yarn soft enough for baby? I was going to just do a shell
stitch, but any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

Babies! Lots of Babies! by
Murielle
Well, only two.
So I turned to my old standby Mary Lamb Baby Book Vol. 30 (twenty cents!)
pattern 3006. I've done this pattern before a few times so I felt quite
confident with it and it's going well. I'm about two/thirds of the way
through the blanket in variegated wool: white, pale blue...

yahoo invite versus usenet by

I'm leaning towards declining the invite, as I don't like the way
yahoogroups 'works' compared to usenet.
IMHO, a 'forum' would be more LIKE usenet.

Addiction to Knitting and Yarn ~ who, US??? by
Noreen's Knit*che
First, I have to give credit as to where I found the below:
http://www.eberly.iup.edu/Mtroxell/addiction.htm
YOU KNOW YOU ARE ADDICTED TO KNITTING AND YARN IF . . . . .
You have a room in your house devoted just to knitting.
You buy yarn just because it's pretty, even if you don't know what...
