need help with a book title/author by
Sunny
There's a book, out in the past year, that involves putting shadows
into your quilt design to give a look of depth. I can't remember the
name of the book or the author and try searching Amazon.com with that
missing! Can anybody help? It's not shadow quilting, it's about using
fabric to give the...

Applique onto already quilted background? by
Patti
Cheryl has often said that she does this now, as she is not able to do
her own quilting.
I am asking this question on the group, rather than e-mailing Cheryl,
because I thought others might be interested in 'her' answer - and any
other comments that might be generated.
I am about to do this...

A friend of mine ordered her Calla Lily Mosaic

anything. Is she just kinda slow to fill orders or ... ? Apparently
she just started accepting PayPal so...

Question - Meander Style Quilting? by
NancyB
Do all you who do such *wonderful* meander style quilting
have a longarm quilter, or do some/many of you do it with
your sewing machine? Just curious...I love the look of it
and do have a walking foot for my machine, but I wondered
how difficult it is? Any quilting I've done to now, I've
done by...

Have it Your Way by
Polly Esther
I needed to make a new baby girl quilt and Marsha McCloskey's 'Blended
Quilts' has been calling to me for a long time. You can see her book over
at Big Horn if you are not familiar with these patterns. Marsha's quilts
are beautiful but entirely too sedate for what I think a baby will enjoy. I...

Barbara Sherrill
I would like to know how everyone feels about this subject. Not sure when it
was last visited.
Do you wash or not to wash your fabric before quilting?

OT my visit w/ wolves by
Toni Schneidt
Hey, group!
Remember at Christmastime, when I announced that DH bought me an
"Adopt-a-wolf" sponsorship? I went and did the interaction yesterday!!!
OMG It was sooo cool, neat, fun, breath-taking!!!
I didn't get to meet the wolf I sponsored, but I got to meet the rest of the
pack!!! That was 5,...

OT Back from Brisbane - update on DF by
Heather in WestOz
Hi all, I thought I'd just say I'm back.
My trip to Brisbane went as well as it can when you think you are going to
visit and end up organising a funeral. It seems my Dad had a massive heart
attack so there was nothing I could have done if I had been there. Nothing
my brother could have done if...

In Praise of Chambray by
dogmom
I'm sewing a simple skirt, in chambray. The stuff feels so nice; has such a
nice weave and drape and is so reasonably priced I wonder why I haven't used
it for quilts (of course, now I'll have scraps ;-), either for backings or
just as a nice solid, almost TOT with that weave. Have I just been...

OT - slightly healthy oatbars by
Johanna Gibson
I was able to get a bunch of rhubarb for next to nothing so I made
oatmeal bars (flapjacks for the UK folks).
I cooked a pan of chopped rhubarb with a few handfuls of
strawberries until it was nice, thick, stewed fruit. Meanwhile, I
mixed a big glob of butter, about the same size of brown sugar,...

One of those DUH! moments! And a good tip for quilters by
Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
I was looking at the Joann website out of boredom- there's nothing I
really "need". I looked at the June Tailor wooden thread racks (I have
four of the 120 spool racks) and read some of the customer reviews.
One person complained that the pegs for the spools were too short to
hold the spool with...
