Let's talk about irons . . . . by Donna Aten[_3_]
Remember when a bunch of us bought the "technicolor" irons? Well, mine just died. Now I need some suggestions for a new iron. My old, old Rowenta spits and sputters (yes, I know Sandy/Ragmop you don't put water in your irons, but I do!), so now I need to start shopping for a new iron. I haven't...

OT Bwa-Ha-Ha! Getting the Holiday Baking done by NightMist
I have been fretting about my holiday baking. Usually I go completely overboard, which has resulted in our unofficial household holiday, "Trekking to the Post Office and Making Them Work". Wherein we take boxes full of goodies adding up to about $100 in postage to the post office and send them...

Steam Iron auto shut off by hofftrk
Can anyone recommend an Iron that I can turn off the auto shut off feature? I am so tired of buying irons only to be disappointed with their performance. But my biggest complaint is that they shut off way too soon when I am piecing fabric. ------------------------------------- Nancy

Basting a quilt by Rose in CA[_3_]
My absolute, hands down, NON favorite part of our favorite activity is basting. I will finish a top and leave it for years and years, just because I HATE to get down on the kitchen floor and stick stupid safety pins all over the quilt and then fasten them and then unfasten them again when I want to...

OT Green Bean Cassarole- again! by Leslie & The Furbabies in MO.
Yesterday I got the giggles in the frozen foods section of Wal-Mart. I was getting a few frozen dinners and found one from Marie Callender that grabbed my attention. Above the description it says "with NEW side dish" and continues "Steak in Mushroom Sauce- beef with roasted red potatoes and...

Rotary cutters/Create and Craft tv by Sally Swindells[_3_]
I've just been watching Jennie Rayment on UK Sky tv's Create and Craft and she was demonstrating TrueCut rotary cutters which are made to go with their rulers which have a lip on them so the cutter doesn't suddenly wobble and deviate. There was also a TrueCut blade sharpener demonstrated. Has...

Oh my ... craft show exhaustion by Sunny[_2_]
I, of course, procrastinated in getting ready for the craft show and ended up working madly to get bindings stitched down and buttons stitched on the past week. I took 11 little arty quilts and three journal covers. Everybody who came by picked up the journal covers and said 'Oh wow, these are...

Ping - betsey hair brush by Kate T.
Did a lookup for hair brushes and found several kinds. If the little one has thick hair like mine and it sounds like she does, I would suggest a wooden handle half round boar bristle brush. The price varies from around 10 to 25 dollars. They come in the 3 or 3 1/2 inch bristle. The flat or...

Christmas shopping, anyone? by Polly Esther[_5_]
I can get this on topic but I'm going to wander off since it's astounding and delightful the hefty range of knowledge here. If you want to save postage and give yourself some nice fabric, Arizona Quilts is holding the Polly Esther 2011 record for stuffing the most in a 'if it fits, it ships'...

Christmas clear-out! by Sandy E
Howdy! At Hobby Lobby, they're clearing out the Christmas gear. All the decorations, the doo-dads & gee-gaws, the fancy décor, the country clutter, the shiny bits & bobs, the ornaments & trees & dishes & garlands - if it says "Christmas", it's OUT'a here! Disappointing, but not surprising. 50%...

Don't want to open another can of worms.... by Sherry
Another thought about Facebook. My friend list got out of control. So, it's like you are in a cozy room with my great-aunt, my sister, my pastor's wife, my kids, friends from my wild and crazy 20's, plus all the crazy cat ladies that I know from my days on the Board of the Humane Society. It's like...

This stinks by Polly Esther[_5_]
I want you to see what I'm quilting. We want to know what you're quilting. There was a skunk print here that was so precious I had to just 'make' me cut into it. I've framed the blocks in gray and then black only because those were the winners on the design wall. That sounds much too serious...
