Basic wheel throwing question - centering by
Elric
Hello.
I'm taking a Beginner Wheel Throwing Class at a local studio, but it
turns out I'm the only beginner there, and after about 15 minutes of
demonstration, the instructor cut us loose. In the two hour class,
everyone made 3 or 4 bowls apiece, and I could barely get the clay to
center on the...

flowing glazes by
Marmaj40
I use commercial glazes for the most part, and it seems that some of the glazes
I buy flow on beautifully, and others seem to "attack" the pot in a thick glob,
and dry so quickly that the brush just seems to attach to the pot, and won't
glide over the piece. With this type of glaze, I get a very...

Pit firing by
Stelios Zacharias
Dear all,
I have bought some books suggested by the group about kiln
building. It is going to take time to get organised enough to
build a kiln. Since we got the 4 day weekend coming up at the end
of the month, I thought I'd pit fire my greenware rather than
wait to get a kiln built.
I have had a...

Has anyone heard of Habbacombe Potteries in Torquay? by
Bromley Oxfam
Has anyone heard of Habbacombe Potteries in Torquay?
I might have misread the Habbacombe bit, especially the H.
Anyone come across this name before? I'm trying to figure out how much
to charge for a vase.
Thanks in advance,

Ian

On line supply buying. by
Kira Dirlik
Hello,
Sorry if this has been a recent thread. I've been out of touch.
I checked Google for on-line places to buy pottery supplies and
there were thousands. For those of you who buy on-line, who do you
recommend for the best prices and widest selection?
For starters, I've looked for a supplier of...

Nickel oxide versis nickel carbonate by
Bruce on Earthlink
Question? I want to try some Nickel oxide or nickel carb as a colorant
in my glaze. Does anyone know the pros and cons of using one instead of the
other. I know that nickel carbonate is less expansive.

Glue for broken mug handle? by
Dan Musicant
The handle broke off my favorite mug which is made from white clay. It's
very hard for me to find a mug I like that's as big as I like, and this
one will do until I find another. Trouble is the handle broke off and I
use this thing for hot coffee (can't hold it without a handle). Can I
use some...

ceramic fibre board by
hank evans
Hi folks
We have just make a ceramic fibre board 1250 lid for our potterycraft
electric kiln.
We sandwiched ceramic fibre between two sheets of board and then enclosed
the sides in more board. So in essence it is a fibre filled box lid.
We placed it on the kiln, turned on and waited a while....

04 06? by
Martin J. Kenny
This question is probably simple with a simple answer. Perhaps it narrows
down to will it make a difference to the final product if I bisque porcelain
at 06 (usually I do it to 04)?
The reason for the question is that there is a terracotta piece already
fired to 06. It has some glued wood...
