Big Quilt Done ;-) by
dogmom
It's on the bed and looks great if I do say so myself! Unfortunately I can't
post pix--but I know you all have great imaginations! It's a scrappy string
quilt, strings sewn to 10" muslin squares, half light/half dark on the
diagonal, laid out so they form an 8-point star in the center and then...

New quilt, new photos by
Johanna Gibson
Hello,
I delivered a new, reversible quilt to a friend yesterday. Chikako
is 7 months pregnant and flying back to Japan next week, so that she
can give birth there in October. I think this may be the first time I
finished a baby quilt before the baby was born!
New photos in the quilts album,...

The Incredible Magic Bag by
TwinMom
We had just the most fun this morning that I had to share with you all!
Maybe some of you have seen that Yin-Yang handbag pattern by Jamie
Kalvestran (NAYY). Well, my little girl saw it quite a while ago at the old
Connecting Threads retail store (now gone) and it was made up in animal
print...

Meet our new kitty RINGO - Q.I. by
Bronnie
We have a new kitty in the house to replace our beloved Whiskey who
went to the Great Saucer in the Sky in June (result of accident).
Ringo is so named because everyone thought Whiskey II was a cop-out!
Ringo's pedigree name is Cenglow Ring a Ding. He is an Abyssinian
purebred.
He is a real cutie...

I'm back!!!! by
A&T[_2_]
I'm doing backflips over the fact that Houston Comcast and Earthlink have
now gotten my news server back up.
I don't like that I am back in Outlook Express, but maybe it won't be too
long until I can use Thunderbird again.
Hugs to those who have needed them, cheers and happy dances to those who...

support request - sorta OT, sorta long by
Karen, Queen of Squishies
I think I've mentioned before that I get together every Friday with 6 or
8 others to quilt, visit, drink coffee, have sack lunch, etc, etc. We get
together for about four hours.
When I moved into this house 3.5 years ago it was a cold Feb. day. But
soon after that I had a spring garage...

Babylock Decorator's Choice by
KI Graham
Does anyone have any comments about this machine? I just picked one up at a
store that's discontinuing the brand and now I'm wondering if I was too
hasty. (I bought the floor model, so I can't actually take the machine until
all his stock has sold...probably a week or so.)

Totally OT-Tea by
steve
So, since we are off topic and talking about water, I'll keep it
semi-related and ask a question about flavored water, specifically the tea
that is served at Chinese restaurants. What is the brand or type or
whatever? I really like the mild flavor. It is soft and calming and just
what I...

new pics by
Pati Cook
Well, last week I did finish my Hoffman Challenge quilt and got it off
in the mail. I am not sure the quilt came out the way I wanted it to, it
was a big change in style for me. BG All hand pieced, but machine
quilted. Hexagons, starting out with a traditional Grandmother's Flower
Garden,...

Ping:Jessamy by
Carole-Retired and Loving It
Has anyone heard from Jessamy lately? I'm waiting (not too patiently
:) at this point 'cause I want to try the applique technique I just
read about in Ami Simms' "Invisible Applique") for the August BOM. I
e-mailed her a few days ago but haven't gotten an answer.
Meanwhile, I DID finish her July...

finished something, sort of by
Kay Ahr[_2_]
Finished a quilt top. Still needs basting together, quilting, and binding
of course. It's a year-old project from Carol Doak's Quilting Yahoo
Group -- June 2006 Celebration blocks.
It is first in the "Paper-Piecing" album at
http://community.webshots.com/user/kayahr
I might actually truly...

Another one done! :) by
Sandy
Last night I finished #2 of the three Jennie Rayment projects I started
at camp. :) This one is called Tucked-Up Circles, and it may well be my
favorite of the three. It's at
http://www.sandymike.net/fabmanip.html#Tucked-Up_Circles; I've also
added a detail photo of Twitch, Twiddle & Tweak,...

Fabric Buying Stories by
Terri
While at the LQS I was accosted by a couple who decided I looked like
a quilter and before I knew it I was enlisted in helping them figure
out what batting was, how to use it, how much to buy and all the rest.
The entire time the woman's husband was going on about the quilting
his grandmother did,...

Mounting Old Linoleum on stained wood: by
jwill
Not sure where to post this???
I have some old, worn, rustic linoleum. Some of it looks like it's
pressed onto a rough burlap / type material.
I'd like to stain some hardwood plywood, and "mount" the linoleum
pieces to it. Then put some sort of coating over the linoleum. These
will be hung on...

OT -- Good thoughts/prayers requested by
Julia in MN
We just heard that an interstate highway bridge over the Mississippi
River in Minnepolis collapsed about an hour ago, during rush hour.
Obviously there are injuries and probably fatalities; however not much
is known at the present. There are at least 50+ vehicles involved. Some
information at...

On display by
Louise[_2_]
This week three of my finished works are on display in my local quilt
store.
It's my first time showing quilts, and the first time for any art or
craft in many years. It was pretty scary to bring them in, since I
can see the flaws in all of them. But now I want to go back and look,
just to see...
