Ping KK by
Lizzy Taylor
Hi KK,
How long do your dill pickles need to rest before they can be eaten? I
made a few jars last week as our local Costco in the UK has started
carrying "snacking cucumbers" and they are just the right size for
pickles :)

Bug Jar swap -- are you interested??? by
Kate G.[_2_]
This post is just to gauge interest in participants for a bug jar fabric
swap. If there is, I'll post the official swap next week.
The way I've done swaps in the past is get 20 people (I'm one of them) who
each buy 1 1/4 - 1 1/2 yards of an appropriate fabric... cut it into 8 x 10
inch pieces...

Single Rose. by
Estelle Gallagher
I am currently hand quilting this monster sized Charity Quilt ( MS) 112" x
90".
It is 6" Blooming 9 patch. I am quilting around the blocks 1/4 "from seam .
The plain blocks I think would benefit from a rose quilt pattern,at least
the centre blocks. The fabric is Moda Sanctuary with the middle...

Here's a pic of the I Spy center section. The next picture in the webshots
album is of the pictures I printed on fabric. The picture of the pictures
came out pretty well!
No more work this afternoon. I have to take DD to...

Ping: Wonder Wallet Makers by
Patti S
I received my Lazy Girl Designs "Wonder Wallet" pattern in the mail
today, and, of course, immediately made one. I just love how quickly it
went together, and it's VERY cute (made it from some batik scraps I
had). However...... I'm not thrilled with the amount of bulk I had in
the corners when I...

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Iron by
Debra
Well this morning I woke up raring to sew. I didn't waste time on
breakfast or caffeine. First thing I did was throw the front door
open so's I would have plenty of light to stitch by. Three cats heard
the door open and decided to lay in the sun streaming into the
livingroom, one on my sewing...

Everybody Out! by
Polly Esther
Take a flashlight and screwdriver with you. I want you to go around to the
vent thing from your clothes dryer, open it, peer inside and check for
troubles. If they're generally unimportant, at least scrape the fuzzies
from the flap so it will close properly and not permit any critters easy...

OT - to the linguists among us by
DrQuilter[_2_]
As a non-native speaker, I get confused about some things. I checked
wiki, but want to hear your opinions. When did we stop using the word
sex to refer to men and women and started using gender? Gender is "an
individual's self-conception as being male or female, as distinguished
from actual...

Oz fabrics by
Bonnie NJ
Yesterday I went to a quilt "airing". There was one quilt that I
really liked, it was done in fabrics from down under. I was wondering
if anyone knows of a good source here in the US?

Baltimore Album quilts by
Anne Rogers[_3_]
I am growing increasingly attracted to the idea of making one of these,
I realise it will be a pretty long term project!
Has anyone here done one? Or working on one? How did you design your
blocks, I'm thinking it may be a coloured paper and glue moment!
When working on it (or any other...

Is there a place for antique quilt-frames? by
flash
Is there a place in this world of sewing machines for an antique quilting
frame?
I am moving to smaller qarters, and I have my Great-Grandmother's quilting
frame to "do something with". It is about 8 feet long, and sets up at about
three feet wide or so. I remenber "during the war", Grandma and...

Done! :D by
Sandy
This afternoon I finished the Christmas stocking for our DGD! Yippee! I
posted a photo at http://www.sandymike.net/christmas.html#stockings
(the third stocking down). It's the same pattern as the ones I'd
previously made for her brothers, but I think it looks a bit less
masculine, and it's...

a bone-headed goof needing the Royal Dilemma Dissolver and everyone else by
Karen, Queen of Squishies
Here's the story:
The quilt is beautiful, and not wanting any stretching during the putting on
of the binding, the entire outer edge of the quilt was machine basted.
Hmmm...... forgot to square up said quilt.
After squaring it is noticed that the nice machine basting, which runs
beautifully...
