Hi, I run a Baseball and Softball glove relacing service. I am wanting to add Name Embroidering as a service. I was wondering if you could give me some information or maybe point me in the right direction for what I should be looking for. Basically I would just be embroidering a person's name...

Hand stitching with sewing awl by Michael Horowitz
I'm practicing with a sewing awl for when I'm sewing on some final do-dads to my canvas covers. Following the instructions I can get about three consecutive stitches and then I discover that instead of one line on the awl side of the material, I have three! Must have varied what I'm doing but can't...

?? For Other Pro Sewers Discounts? by [email protected]
I mentioned that I will be working with an interior designer. The question came up about giving discounts on large orders--say, whole-house refurbishment, where the designer's bill total would be in the $15,000 to $20,000 range. The idea is to make a 'big' client happy--keeping the possible sale by...

Some new web pages by Kate Dicey
I put together a few more pages for the web site. No new sewing projects or quilty things, just some pages of things like different seam types and neatening methods. Probably more use to the new sewing folk than the old hands. Hit the URL below and go to Kate's Sewing Room: you'll find most of...

How much to charge? by Lori Reynolds
Hi there -- I've been asked by our local ballet (at which my 10 year old daughter is a student) to make some costumes. I've had lots of experience making things for my own family's use, but have never charged anyone a fee, so I don't know what I'm worth, so to speak. I'd love to have some input...

Does anyone have this pattern size 14-16-18 they bought but never used? I have several patterns (good ones)that I've not used (because I lost weight). I would be happy to swap if I have something you can use, otherwise I'll pay reasonable postage (I live in Australia). I have tried some websites...

Duct Tape Double almost here by duh who
OK, did the wrap tonight, cut it off, but the damned tape is giving off fumes that are getting to me. I'm letting it set outside overnight. I haven't taped up the cut line yet. What's the best thing to fill it with? Particularly if I want to put it on a stand. Dwight

Is it me or my machine? by bromeliad
I purchased a White Jeans Machine a few weeks ago. I've always wanted to sew, but I didn't know how far I would go with it as a hobby, so I opted for something basic that could do heavy fabrics for home decorating. I'm new to sewing, but many years ago I did sew a dress on my mom's Singer (and yes,...
