Crochet Pattern Help or Replacement? by
Maeven
Hi All!
I'm definitely a newbie so I'm wondering if I just bit off more than I
could chew. I have been told my crocheting is good (even chains and I'm
picking up terminology well, at least I thought) and have done some hats
and scarves and coasters so far. I wanted to make a poncho for my...

New to newsgroups... by
Diana Brissenden
Hello,
My name is Diana and I am looking for a newsgroup that covers knitting and
how to. I do hope that this is the right place.
Can anyone out there tell me if this is the right newsgroup and is there
anyone out there that does knitting crafts.
I am new to all of this and need some help.
Diana...

Darn it! by
spampot
....not literally, of course. I'm just peeved. Today's local newspaper,
the Baltimore Sun, has a big article (front page of the Home & Family
section) on the resurgence of knitting among young people, and the
on-line version isn't available (the site still shows last Sunday's
page) so I can't...

SNOW! by
Norma
(growl) One of my least favourite four letter words. We got over a foot
yesterday, and it looks like we are up to that again already today. I think
we are going to have a white Christmas, like most other years.

I am testing whether or not anyone can see the photos using yahoo photo

Knitting and Stitching show (and meeting new friends) by
Christine in Kent, Garden of England
I had a great day on Saturday, when I went to the Knitting and Stitching
show at Alexandra Palace in London. It's just huuuge. Acres of retail
opportunities, and some amazing exhibitions. And I met up for lunch with
Ray Almond and her husband. Actually there was probably less lunch than
chat,...

Life Update (Off & On Topic) by
Ranee Mueller
Hello All!
I have been recovering and getting used to life with 4 children. :)
We hosted our entire church for Easter here, and our parents have been
in and out of the house helping us out.
As for my knitting, it had been put down for some time, but I'm
picking it up again. I don't think that...

My Old Knitting Rant by
norabalcer
Hi Everyone,
After reading the note from Noreen, I thought I would share this story
with all of you. A picture of the afghan is in my album under other
projects. http://tinyurl.com/9zab9
A woman that I used to work near knew that I did knitting and her DD
raised keeshound dogs. She had found this...

sewing liner onto knitted wool shawl? by
sarab
I've made a rather large stockingknit stitch shawl that I appliqued w/
knitted leaves on one side - would like to line the inside to hide the
attaching stitches.
Not much of a seamstress, although I do own a machine. Cascade 220
wool used, so kinda bulky. How to do? Thanks!

cashmere yarn by
Violetcobra
I wonder if anyone knows what the going rate is for cashmere yarn. I
have seen 120 yds in local shops for $23.00 (US). What would a really
good deal be for a baby hat, something rather fine, maybe 20 sts. to a
4"/10cm?

What to make with this yarn? by
Amber
This is far from an emergency situation, as I have plenty of other things on
the go, but I figured I'd ask here so I could consider the possibilities.
Something (okay, it was that fact that it was $5.00!) convinced me that I
needed to bring home a bag (1 pound/454 g) of mill ends of what looks to...

Is wool from Merino sheep always labeled "Merino wool"? by
Ilya Zarembsky
Hello everyone,
I'm curious to know how much of the wool sold around the world is
produced by merino sheep, but not labeled 'merino wool.' does anyone
have an idea, or a lead? Thank you very much for your help!
