A teaser from today! by
Tina
I HAVE to go spend some time with my son - take him to the pumpkin
patch to buy pumpkins and such.
But when we get home, I will have to write about my paper piecing
lesson with Carol Doak!

Quilt Class by
Megwen Woodham
Earlier in the year I asked if anyone knew anything about Denise Vanderlugt
from Queensland Aus as my sister had booked a place for me on a workshop
with Denise for my birthday. Well, I attended the workshop last week, and
I'm not sure that her technique for creating pictorial quilts is my...

Rasant Thread by
Dee in Oz
Has any one tried this???
I have just seen it advertised at www.craftylady.com.au for $6.50 for
1000m which is a lot cheaper than the Aurifil that I have just
purchased ($19.00 for 1300m )
I have decided I really should be using cotton instead of the leftover
poly cotton from kids clothes

fussy cut jungle by

I finished the top of my latest strange project and even got DH to
diplomatically say he liked it (but hoping I don't decide to hang it in
the bedroom or someplace). It's got vibrant gold/orange batik and
purple batik birds in the air triangle blocks together with some leafy
green/blue batik...

New Toy/Business Happy Dance!!! by
Charlotte Hippen
Congrats!! Happy dancing for you. That is my dream too, and for pretty
much the same reasons you listed (home with the kids, fun to do and bring in
some money too). I don't currently have the room however (I just finally
found a place to squeeze my sewing machine in that wasn't the closet),...

Quilt Labels by
Julia in MN
If my backing is relatively plain, I usually just write the label info
directly on the backing after quilting.

The Count and I are back from a week at the I
QF, tired but happy and loaded down with projects to complete. Our
classes were wonderful and very well organized, the hotel very
comfortable and convenient, food was fabulous, and the flight there and
back uneventful. We both learned a lot...cutting...

Siggy swap for Kids by
Terbear
do you have a JR quilter at home? Do you have a child you would like to make
a quilt for with blocks from other children? If so, we want you.
This is a very simple swap, and going to be tons of fun!
The rules are unpublished at the moment, but the basics of it are this:
you will need white muslin,...

You might try the vegetable storage bags. They have tiny holes that allow
air in. I use them to store applique blocks & fabrics.

I'm so bored! by
KJ
I'm working on a chenille throw. The pattern where you layer 4 layers of
flannel and stitch 1/2 inch channels all over the top, then cut 3 of the
layers. The sewing is sooooooo boring! I can barely make myself stay at
the machine. I'm making deals....sew three lines, then do something else
for...

What kind/size SM needles? by
Marlys in Indiana
I'm searching for general consensus of what kind - quilting,
embroidery,jeans,
etc., and size - 75/11, 80/12, 90/14 do each of you use for the majority of
your quilting needs?
Do you use the same size for quilting that you use for piecing?
Personally, I have had very good luck with the 75/11 in...

Ever start something and wish you hadn't? (semi-OT) by
Paul & Suzie Beckwith
Hubby went out for the day, and as I'd had an avalanche in my craft and
quilting magazine corner the day before yesterday (had to shore it up
with boxes of 12" scrapbook paper - not good for either!) I decided that
today I would tidy the entire corner out...
Bad mistake - its now dark, I have no...

You're right, Jan, I found them just before leaving for Houston. They
were perfect for all our 'stuff." They are 2'X1.7' (60 cmX51cm) and
close tightly with their 'zip.' Nancycog in MD

Copyright and stealing (ON topic) by
Kathy Applebaum
I've been rather bothered over the last few days by the posts indirectly
addressing copyright issues here. This is a subject that's been hashed over
many times before, and not a lot that's new is ever added to this debate.
Still, I feel I need to vent.
I've seen several posts advocating the...

I'd just make them 3-4" bigger, and turn as usual, then sew 3-4" in from the
edge and starch them.

let's see if this energizes me by

Haven't done much quilting in a long time. I thought publishing a list
of my ongoing projects might help now that I am back from Mexico, house
is looking more and more put together (though we still have to tackle
the living room walls, and eventually the main bath and the loft, and
small paint jobs...
