'...You made it to the other side, but tell me who will be my guide...' by
Pirjo Ilvesvuori
Well...good news. Even I am tired and I should have been in
bed two hours ago, I started one blue square. First ½ of it
is done and few rows more for that. So it will grow
steadily, that much I can tell. Maybe I can make the rest
before the next sunset. The square nr. 2 should see the
daylight soon...

'mohair' question, plz by
val189
Hello,
May a newcomer butt in?
I crocheted an afghan back in the early eighties with a fake mohair
I believe was called "Kitten". I am getting psyched to do another
one and wonder if this stuff is still available, or can anyone
recommend something comparable.
Thank you.

(longish) OT and ON-t..... by
Noreen's Knit*che
First, I'd like to welcome any newbies, you've stumbled upon the BEST, or
as my cousin Fran and I like to say, the "bestest" (grin) NG on the 'net.
I'd also like to extend belated birthday and anniversary wishes to the many
I'm sure I missed during my ISP-imposed haitus.
Also, anyone going through...

(longish)About Katrina a little OT, but not by
Noreen's Knit*che
I have to tell you all, the outpouring from the crafting community has been
tremendous! There are groups of knitters, crocheters, weavers, etc all over
the 'net who are doing GREAT things for Katrina Relief Efforts, and it makes
me, for one, very proud of us all.
I wanted to say a couple of things...

(OT) AOL users Emergency by
[email protected]
I am on AOL, and they have told us that they are not going to carry the
Newsgroups any more. I did a live chat with an AOL tech, and she
steered me to AOL Keyword Tell Us and there you can write and ask them
not to drop the Newsgroups. I don't know if it will do any good, but
at least we can go...

Noreen's Knit*che
OMG, I'm embarrassed and stumped!
On row 13 of the "Dutch Lace Stitch"
I came across this: "cross2R". and looked it up, showing the following

Knit the second stitch on the left needle, passing it in front of the

While searching for the peach yarn**, I came across an unfinished
project I'd started for myself: a "shoulder scarf" (aka "shrug") in RH
worsted using an I hook from a pattern in the 1918 Fleisher's Manual
that features a modified crazy stitch. The pattern can be found...

*buying* Fair Isle socks by
YarnWright
Georgia spun a FINE 'yarn':
I wanted to buy some Fair Isle socks for DS--and yeah, $16 plus
shipping would be much less of an investment than the time it would
take to knit them--and I saw some in the Garnet Hill catalog. But
they turned out to be 43% nylon, and that seemed like too much....
